Failed my driving test this week... How many attempts did it take you?

Passed on my 4th test.

Test 1: Entire test went fine, except for when parking up at the test centre at the end of the test, I went too far back when reversing into a bay and went up the kerb and hit a fence.

Test 2: "Drove too slowly". Apparently going at 27MPH instead of 30 is bad.

Test 3: Indicated left, but didn't turn left, and missed the turning he wanted me to go down. That corner is notorious, due to various natural obstructions and the way the road is laid out, it almost looks like there's no turning there at all.

Cost me a little more, but a pass is a pass. I'm happy to say that since passing my test nearly 10 years ago, I've had 0 accidents, never been stopped by the police, never been flashed by a speed camera, or had any other major incident on the road.

First time.

I was almost as surprised as my instructor. He'd already booked me in for another lesson the following week.

i failed the first time but passed the second time only just. i had maximum minors. when she said "you'd be glad to know you passed" it was a relief. i haven't driven since then though and this was back in 2004

Two attempts, but I did have my first attempts fees refunded after an investigation into the practices of the local testing centre. They were failing almost everyone first time, why, I don't know, but my instructor was on my test and put in a request for an investigation after seeing my test card.

My other licences for PCV and HGV I passed first time.

3rd time - 2 minors

1st I shouldn't have been put in for it I was dangerous.
2nd Another learner coming from my right indicating to come down the road I was coming out of and just didnt turn, nearly took my nose off.

That's a bit of a joke the second time. Did you perform an E.Stop straight away or did the examiner do it?

Passed first time, 2 minors.

I chatted to the tester the entire time, nerves probably, he didn't talk back much but didn't tell me to shut up either.

3rd time for me.

1st failed because some plank on a motorcycle stopped next to my offside door whilst I waited to turn right off the road. I think the examiner just didn't see him or something. 1 minor for a quick crunch of the gears, 1 major (for the motorcyclist thing). No biggy, was always told that it's completely normal to bodge the first time, then pass the second. Examiner was a complete ********. Wouldn't say a word to me (not even "Hello") and got angry if I dared ask to repeat or clarify the last instruction/direction they gave.

2nd failed. Was completely relaxed and confident. Near the end of the test, I had noted the examiner had not once marked my test sheet. I stopped to let someone finish crossing the road (they were waiting in the middle of the road.) The examiner explained that I didn't have to stop, so shouldn't have. No minors, 1 major. Examiner was ok, didn't really want to talk, but at least didn't bite my head off when I ask her to repeat directions.

3rd Passed. This time I was crapping it. The doubt that perhaps driving isn't for me had crept in. As I approached the junction at the end of the road from the test centre, someone wasn't happy with my road positioning and honked away at me and gave me all kinds of hand signals. They then mounted the curb to go around me. I was convinced I had failed, I also made a series of other mistakes after this because I was quite upset. 7 minors, no majors. Clearly I drove worse on this test than the other two. Examiner was lovely. Really chatty, polite and gentle (for lack of a better phrase.)

2 attempts here,

failed the first one with 1 serious, while attempting to set off up hill in "neutral" lol, i rolled backwards half a car length.

passed 2nd one with 3 minors.

First time, 2 minors.

first minor was for pulling out of a junction and not giving enough room for the incoming car (made the most of the gap because it was morning rush hour)
second minor was for low revs from a closed blind stop junction.

My instructor who was in the back said that i had a clean sheet until i got back in the test center (the examiner apparently marked them down when i parked up.
