Failed my driving test this week... How many attempts did it take you?

Not really, you should never pull out unless you know it is safe to do so. Just because the person is indicating it doesn't mean they will actually make the turn.

Wouldn't you then get marked down for being too hesitant at a junction?

You shouldn't do if you start to pull out as soon as the car starts to actually turn into the junction (or you pull out when the car is far enough away that it does not matter if it is turning or not).

Passed 3rd time when I was 17. Then got banned for driving without insurance and took six years off. I then passed again first time with a single minor (no excuse to fail, I'd already passed it once!).

Good luck on your re-test!

That's a bit of a joke the second time. Did you perform an E.Stop straight away or did the examiner do it?

I did, really really annoyed by that, guy even said

"if it had happend towords the end of the test I would have passed you"

But because It happened in first 5 mins he didnt know how competent a driver I was, so marked me down. oh well, passed after that!

My cousin's an examiner. They don't have hard quota's but they do have soft targets. They tend to be stricter when the centre's approaching their target for the month.

Still I'd say your cousin was lying, say they made their "cap" on passes that month and then they examine someone who does the perfect drive, what they'll fail because of a target? totally don't believe it.

If it was the perfect drive then yes, they'd pass them. However if it was someone with quite a few minors then it wouldn't surprise me if they made an excuse to fail that person. It's not something his cousin is going to lie about, is it?

1st time pass here :). The instructor must have been having a good day though because he let me off for having my indicator on past four junctions :D

I'm going to start learning at hopefully pass early next year, very sceptical about learning and taking the test in London though! May take a week and do an intensive course + test down in South Devon!

The people saying if you dont pass first time you are a crap driver, are complete tools. Funnily enough not everyone is a driving god, get nerves, freak things happen. pfft.

I also think the examiner makes a HUGE difference.

Any tips on how to keep it cool on a test? I'm naturally a fairly confident/relaxed driver and am pretty cautious (but not overly!), but yet on my test I was a nervous wreck and semi-panicked every time he asked me to do something! It annoys me as he probably sensed I wasn't relaxed.

1st time with 1 minor fault. I was quite proud of myself to be honest, having been never interested in driving until age 30 I did an intensive course over 3 weeks - went from never setting foot behind the wheel of a car, to driving. Now I hate walking anywhere, good times.

Laugh at him because he would have got into the car sooner than you, and will be leaving it later than you.

LOOOOOOOL
