So hopefully finally getting a Yammy Pacifica after next payday but I won't have the cash for the amp I want for a while.

So what are my options for connecting to my, PC leads, software etc ?

Needs to be pretty cheap otherwise may a well get a cheap amp.

Thanks.

If you haven't got any processing software the "Line 6 POD Studio/Toneport GX" is very good value. Interface and Amp modeller included - i.e. all you need.

If not, Behringer GUITAR LINK UCG102 is cheaper still but you will need to buy some amp modelling software like Vintage Amp Room or ReValver etc. etc.

Going to go for a Line 6 Spider IV 75w so don't really want to be paying out around £100 for a temp solution.

Thanks m3csl2004 will take a look at Amplitude3 :)

Do I just then need a 5mm Jack to 3.5mm jack cable to connect to pc?

not really because the guitar signal is too hot for the "mic" input, which is why some sort of interface is required for a nice sound. ;)

Spider IV would be a good amp to start with though, so excellent choice there!

Has it got a headphone output?
If so then you can come out of that but keep the headphone volume down so you don't overdrive the input on your soundcard.

From Line 6:
Stereo Phones/Direct Output – To listen with headphones, plug them in here. This stereo jack also serves as a Direct Output to connect your Spider IV to a mixer, PA, computer DAW, recording interface or other line input equipment. You’ll get world class quality sound for recording - as good as it gets for direct guitar.

Looks like you will use the Master to control the headphone output.
Oh and the jack will be a 1/4" (6.25mm) stereo jack to 3.5mm stereo.

2nd hand options out there, Creative Audigy or Exdigy would do the job, probably get the Exdigy for £10-20 on the well known auction site.

Thanks to all for the replies.

I now have my Pacifica VCX and decided against the PC route & got the Spider IV 75w which I know is overkill but I love it :)

I go direct into my aux in and it sounds fine. That might have been a problem 2 decades ago, but this day and age its really not an issue.

I bought guitar rig 4 of me mate for £30 and its pretty decent through the pc via a X-fi sound card in aux, no problems and does sound quality.
