I am looking to get the high end MacBook Pro in a couple of weeks time.

2.2Ghz
8GB RAM
Hi-res glossy screen

The question is, do I go for a 5400rpm, 7200rpm or SSD drive? If SSD, I would need the 512GB.

I got a MBP a few weeks ago put in a M4 512gb myself. But I'm used to SSD performance now over the last few years. So anything less feels slower, because it is.

If you can afford the SSD 512gb, why not? Only you can really say if its worth it or not.

Apart from the quicker boot up time, what other advantages are there of SSD?

Andy, may I ask what you do on your MacBook Pro which that makes you think there will be a big difference between 5400 and 7200rpm?

Thanks.
