All iPhone 5 speculation/rumours/wants thread

I find it a bit hard to believe that Assistant is going to be ready for the new phone launch without having been tested in any of the iOS5 developer builds. I'd expect that to be added in 5.1 or something.

To paraphrase the Android, sorry, mobile forum.. a phone's only a phone if it requires tens+ of man hours installing custom software to get it working properly.

I just don't get that at all. My Nexus S "just works" and does what I want.... the only custom app I really use is GoSMS Pro. Everything else - including the ROM - is stock. Yes, I've done Cyanogen and monkeyed around a hell of a lot at the start, but to be honest, I really can't be bothered with all that any more.

The iPhone, I just want because I can, and because it's something different. Plus, it'll fit in with all the new Apple toys I've moved to.

I think the point he is trying to make is that if you ask people in the mobiles forum, their main Android arguments tend to revolve around in-depth customisation and what is essentially hacking. People don't tend to offer Androids 'normal' advantages, they just go to extremes.

Actually, the vast majority of posts in the Android phone threads are troubleshooting issues... :o :(

Very true the very reason I got rid of my SGS ,good fun at first but after a while you get bored of flashing rooting etc.

T the end of the day it's a flippin phone first and foremost !

bull****, the ip4 is sloooow compared to dual core phones. I have the ip4 for work and an sgs2 for personal, and have to out the ip4 down and pick up the sgs2 on heavy websites as it takes so long to render them.

really noticeably different!

I'm not sure how you can call the Iphone 4 slow even compared to them, The Iphone 4 Loads any app instantly, plays movies, music or any content INSTANLY.

So whats the point in going faster than that? Just because you know these Duel Core phones have more juice inside them doesnt mean they will load up things 1 Milisecond before the Iphone4 does.

You dont make anysense, why go faster than the Iphone4 if the Iphone4 is already on top of its game.

Look get your mum or dad to proof your posts before you post them otherwise you will continue to embarrass yourself and just make other people have to spend energy correcting you AGAIN...

I must admit my fuse has shortened in recent times when it comes to illogical fanbois - just step back and reread your post(s) and if you cant grasp why its so silly unfortunately the next few posters will, so why do it to yourself in the first place?

ps3ud0

I wish I had one of those magical iPhone 4's... mine quite often hangs for up to 5 seconds opening settings or gets stuck on ending call, or the touchscreen doesn't respond.

I dont understand where you are coming from.

My Iphone4 loads up everything instantly, there are no slowdowns at all at any stage or any of the small problems you posted above. So its like why do i feel the need to upgrade when i know it wont go faster than i have now???

A CLEAR example would be.....

I have my new QuadCore Iphone 5 and i want to open all these apps, listen to music Instantly without waiting or without any slow downs etc.

But wait..... the load time is EXACTLY the same as it was on the Iphone4 because the software can only go so fast in this day and age

What a waste of money.

me /FAIL

*And we know that the hardware inside the Iphone 5 will be more better than whats already in the 4. But will that make general use of the phone faster? You can look at many Iphone 3 Vs 3GS Vs 4 speed tests on Youtube. You see them carry out many different tests on opening Apps, playing videos and games etc. But there wont be much of a HUGE difference when they compare the Iphone 4 Vs Iphone 5, you dont need to be a genius to work that one out, its common sense.

All you've done is post in this thread saying nobody with an iPhone 4 should upgrade to an iPhone 5. This is classic behaviour of someone that is stuck with an iPhone 4 and is in denial about the iPhone 5 because you aren't allowed to get one. Your parents won't let you.

I agree the iPhone 4 does most things very quickly, however, it is not instant.

There are several reasons why the move to dual-core is required, which you'll probably ignore but I will list them anyway -

  • Dual-core processors use less power than single core ones, therefore battery life tends to be better
  • It is more or less required for the phone to be able to record at 1080p, a noticeable increase in HD video quality
  • Web pages will load even faster than they do now, not a huge deal but you will notice the difference
  • Keeps the device fluid and everything loading much faster than it does now
  • There is a quite noticeable difference in performance when comparing iOS on my iPad 2 to my iPhone 4, it's generally smoother and things open and load faster
  • Also, it isn't just dual-core, it's the RAM and GPU being upgraded too, all future proofing for future apps/features
I don't mean to be rude but you honestly don't have a ******* clue what you are talking about.

What's going on here - Jimz, have you had your phone a long time? Many apps on it?

Both mine and my g/f's are often slow to open messages, open settings etc etc... and as I stated there are often ridiculous problems like call ending getting stuck, or having to switch airplane mode on and off to get it to load pages. iOS and the iphone are buggy and need more processing power to run perfectly.

Also, you mention music being instant... then why does the ipod library on both my iphone and ipad 2 take a while to open... I want it to open instantly, not hang for a few seconds before I can access my music.

On the lack of ram front, both the ipad 2 and iphone STILL have to reload web pages on a frequent basis - incredibly annoying!

I'll be laughing or would have made myself look stupid.

I wont say anymore till then.

This doesn't sound like a very accurate assessment of the devices. Certainly of the iPad 2!

iOS is buggy? It really isn't, it's far from buggy.

Most stuff is fast and works properly. If you load it with loads of apps and music and messages then yes, it will slow down a bit over time but it certainly shouldn't be taking 'ages' to do things.

I'm assuming you're talking about the iPhone 4 right, not a 3G? If it is the iPhone 4, is it jailbroken? Or have you just exaggerated everything to try and make a point? :p

Will my 3G last until i get my iPhone5 or will it end up on the street in bits? :p
Any other 3G (not 3GS) users still about here? Noticed how incredibly slow they are now? lol

I'll be ditching my Desire for an iPhone too.

Shine has gone from Android for me. When it works it's fine but there are just too many little problems with it for my liking. I need a phone that just works.

+1.

I'll be ditching my Desire HD when my contract is up. I moved from an iPhone 4 due to needing the cash and now the novelty of "heeey check out my differen't clock on Android guyyzzz!!!11" has worn off, Android is not a patch on iOS IMO.

Well I dunno why I've had countless iPhones since the first one came out and I STILL get call ending failures, apps crashing out and text messaging / settings taking a good few seconds to appear.

The phone definately needs the A5 (which the new iphone will rectify). Additionally more ram is needed and iOS tweaked to eliminate pages refreshing in Safari.
