Hi there

First of all watch this video:-

The GTR is the master of launching, there is no doubt of that, been the quickest to 45mph out of all cars and only loosing out beyond this, but not by enough for it too loose. For 70k you can't knock the GTR's abilities when it can have 300k+ cars in a straight line and we all know its just as capable on a track and even more devastating in the twisties.

But where was the 911 Turbo S, or the Veyron, surely they could have the GTR?

Well here you go, here is that very test:-

The GTR is again the launch master, but the Veyron and 911 are just so much quicker once rolling, look at the 0-100, 1/4 mile and 0-160 times, they are all bonkers faster, but the 911 and Veyron must have put the earth out of orbit with that acceleration.

Its a great watch and great to see how all these mega cars compare.

The Veyron is just awesome. Realistically if you threw $70k at the GT-R it would nail the 911 so if you're taking a money no object then it's a bit of a pointless video! GT3RS in the first video shows how far behind more comparably priced 911's fare! The GT-R is just a spectacular bit of kit.

No denying this, but on tuning side of things both the GT-R and 911 are both very easy to tune to silly horsepower. Both benefit to the tone of 100-150BHP from remaps alone I believe. :eek:

Infact it would be good to see the 911 and GT-R ran again with just a remap to see just how much closer they get to the Veyron.

Drag race of champions..

They must certainly have know in what order the cars would cross the line in the first video as they form a nice arrow formation for extra effect with the GTR leading the pack !!

The Veyron is pretty much the definition of diminishing returns.

Also surely the Veyron can't get away as an every day car.

The GTR and the 911 Turbo S can.

I'm more astonished at how much quicker the Turbo S is than the GTR.

Interesting videos.

As Vonhelmet said, the Veyron is a great example of the law of diminishing returns. Also although the Turbo-S is a bit quicker than the GTR it costs one and three quarters the amount of the GTR, but it's not one and three quarters times faster...

These videos don't really impress me these days, not since I started riding bikes. When you've got something like a £13k BMW S1000RR which is identical performance wise to a £1m+ Veyron up to 180mph it doesn't seem so impressive anymore.

My £2700, 10 year old bike does 0-60 in <4 sec and 0-100 in about 8-9 sec and it wasn't the fastest bike out there even when it was new!

But... it's a bike?

Not exactly comparing two similar objects. All they have in common is that they go around on the same bit of road.

With a bike you can't:

Drink a Starbucks while driving
Go round corners
Not die in the wet
Carry luggage
Carry passengers
Go somewhere without dressing up like an S&M fan
etc
