Recommendations for DX11 £150 GPU

The 6870 beats the gtx560-TI in Shogun II, Crysis I and Metro2033. Not bad for a card that costs at least £42 less (more likely £60+) when electricity is factored in.
Since when cherry-picking a few games serve as representation of the overall performance?

Shogun 2 is a HIGHLY AMD optimised game, and the so-called 6870 "beating" the GTX560Ti in Crysis it is only by 1fps...if both card were overclocked, the GTX560Ti will run ahead because of it capable of overclocking by 15-20%, whereas the 6870 will only overclocked by around 8-10%. Also, the 6870 does not beat the GTX560Ti in Metro2033:

6870 is a good card for the price it is at, but whether or not it is worth stretching the budget for the GTX560Ti that is another question. However, trying to claim that 6870 is on par with/better than GTX560Ti on performance is just WRONG.

You're wrong.
The benchmark you quoted is nearly 9months old!!!

This benchmark is newer and clearly shows the 560gtx-ti struggling badly at 1920x1200 http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GeForce_GTX_560_TOP_Direct_Cu_II/17.html

In addition, the gap is 2.7fps in Crysis, not 1fps and finally overclocking is too variable in nature to quantify, not to mention power draw increases exponentially.

i think that these arguments are based who loves who and not the true result.

560ti benchmarks that ive seen anywere wipe the floor with the 6870 yet i still hear people saying its basically the same as a 560ti at stock when overclocked.

Please please please people, stop being fan boys and just tell it how it is.

£15 for 5 to 10 FPS gains?

Mad to be honest.
People are willing to pay £30-£40 for the 1GB extra VRAM with 0fps gain in 95% of the games at 1920 res 4xAA for the sake of "future proofing", so 5-10fps gains for £15-£35 extra is hell of a bargain :p

Funny enough that according to that bench the 6870 is faster than the 5870 as well :P

People really gotta learn that Metro2033 is one of the WORST game as indicator for graphic performance, and it will drag to frame rate of all cards all the way down to so low and the performance gap on frame rate becomes to little, that the measurement of the frame rate could falls within the margin of error and don't really deliver accurate results. BFBC2 is the best unbiased performance indicator for cards IMO.

Based on these benchmarks where the 560ti wins pretty much all of them by upto 5-10fps+ @1080p I'd say it's well worth the extra £15

But the gtx560-Ti costs £165 at absolute minimum. The hd6870 around £125-135, not 150.
I don't see where you're getting the £15 figure from. Also don't forget about free games and electricity usage where the 6870 has the advantage.
