Need help with my pc build

Not to mention 2 6990s will be 4 underclocked 6970s in quadfire. And the scaling for that is very poor compared to trifire. Just stick to a single 6970 for now and it will play everything fine on max, and if you feel you need more power, drop in another 6970. For a single screen it will have no problems playing the latest games in a long time.

i wouldn't mind it as long as a single 6970 suffice to play any game on high/max settings. My budget is somewhere between £1-1.5k. If you have any ideas about changing any other spec as well, please lemme know. I'm totally clueless about parts, just reading up lots of build ideas and making my list. I'll never use more than a single screen for gaming anyway.

Heres the latest graphics benchmarks from Guru3D - http://www.guru3d.com/article/vga-charts-spring-2011/2

What resolution is the single screen?

Ah thanks. They're insanely expensive even though they must be terrific quality products. I think i'll stick to the lower end 1920x1080 for now. When i choose a GPU for gaming purposes, What should i be looking at in terms of spec when it says "Name" "HD" "Memory i presume" "GDDR5" "Speed" "Core MHz" " Shader Clock". e.g EVGA GeForce GTX 570 HD 2560MB GDDR5 3800MHz Core:732 MHz, Shader Clock: 1464 MHz.

The cheapest GTX570 or 6970 you can find, if one product comes with some free games that maybe worth something to you then consider that also.

If you can find a overclocked GTX570/6970 with a custom cooler for say £10 more than a reference style one then it maybe worth it, any more is wasting cash.
