Hey guys,

I've been playing BFBC2 for quite long peroids (about 2hours at a time) when I come home from college and realised that I've been getting awful headaches.

Is there a program out there that will enable Motion Blur on a game without that feature?

Motion Blur will only make it worse!, believe me I suffer from awful headaches and also dizzy spells and vertigo (Inner Ear).

Have you tried Setting the fov and brightness/contrast levels ?

Maybe that's why motion blur is worse for you? I don't suffer headaches or dizzy spells :/

Not for you though, this reply was mainly for number_25 :D

p.s battlefield doesn't give me any problems

Dead Island even with all the fixes makes me rather ill

Similar here really. I played less 5 minutes of Dead Island before getting that queasy feeling that I know means I'll feel like absolute crap if I don't stop playing. Took me hours to feel 'right' again after it :/

I used to get it on nearly all FPS games when I was younger. Around the time the original AvP came out I could suddenly play FPS without wanting to vomit.

I still get it in games with low fov, depth of field or motion blur. I also get it tons if I'm sat behind someone watching them play an FPS. Quite strange.

That's really got to suck. I remember a few people getting motion sickness playing HL2, especially on the powerboat sections but didn't know it was that widespread.

I used to feel a bit sick after playing half life 2, I think it was because of the low FOV.

OP you could try increasing the fov in the game config file? Plenty of guides on the net.

edit: Also a big thumbs up for the FOV change. It's a trick done by developers to force a reduction in the number of polygons needing to be displayed by the graphics card so seeming to make it smoother. The trouble is, it's like playing through binoculars. Dead Space is a good example of a low FOV.

Halo 2 on pc.....i was nearly sick trying to play that junk!!! FOV was terrible. It's also one of my main reasons for hating consoles but some PC games are just as bad :(

HL2 was quite bad for me but the fov trick helped quite a lot. I'm okay for most games these days as long as I adjust the graphics settings appropriately :) Does mean I missed out on the earlier Quakes and Doom/etc though. I was aware of them and such but simply couldn't play them.

I think the worst game for it was Goldeneye on the N64. I played single player for about 15 minutes and I couldn't stand up/walk for about half an hour after it. Weirdly, mutiplayer was fine.

Depending on your card you could try dialling down the graphics settings. It won't look as good but moving around will be smoother/less juddery. Tim Willits at the recent Eurogamer devs speech said that with Rage running at 60hz rather than current games at 30hz, it was helping people who were normally prone to motion-sickness during gaming. Pro quake players will often break the graphics down to their basic colours, not just to get rid of the eye candy so the enemy stands out better, but also to increase the FPS to improve accuracy.
Also if you play in the dark with the only light sorce being your monitor, try putting on a low ambient light behind your monitor. Grab a drink/take a leak/check emails etc every half hour or so, it's amazing how this kinda 'purges the mind'.

The trouble is, it's then like playing through binoculars. Can you imagine trying to play footbal with binolulars on? Actually I did see this once on a Japanese game show and it was hilarious, with players trying to kick the ball when they were 6-feet away from it. Dead Space is a good example of a low FOV.

Yeah. I use a lot of these tricks. I tend to use lower settings than I need to in games and really notice if the FPS are dropping down towards the 30 mark.

Annoyingly, I'm relatively decent at FPS games. I could've wasted far more of my youth trying to become competitive at Quake 1/2/etc rather than having to wait until Q3 :p

I don't understand what he's asking, at first i thought motion blur causes him headaches, now he wants to use motion blur to cure his headaches? idk...
