Career/Hobby in Motorsport

If you want a cheap hobby in motorsport then just sign up to your local motor club. That will allow you to do Autotests, 12 car navigational rallies, trials etc. If you want to do sprints or hillclimbs then you'll also need an MSA National B licence which is only about £35 pa.

Ha I'm currently filling in my UCAS application to do motorsport technologies. About the only degree out there which interests me at the moment.

Good luck - I am looking into dogbreath's suggestion now too :D

My advice?

Contact user MaxxUK on this very forum! I've used Malcolm as have many of my friends and you won't find a better coach and mentor to introduce you to all aspects of racing cars, what is needed and then improving your ability behind the wheel. Malcolm is ARDS certified so can easily get you through your licence and then help you progress, using either your own car or rental race cars. I am happy to give him a personal reference and I know many others at all levels who will do the same. His use of data is second to none and he knows exactly where he can help and where he can't.

The ARDS course and test is for those seeking a circuit motor race licence (they do other versions for other disciplines).

Dogbreath makes sense, and you can go trialing cheaply with a suzuki SJ410 which you can upgrade to 413 or 16v as your skill requires. Excellent cheap motorsport.
