Cars you can absolutely wring the life out of

That's the sort of thing usually said by jealous 1.6 owners :p.

Anyone in the know had a 1.9 309.

I used to have a 1.6 SRi 309 (1600 GTi engine/box).

It was nothing short of awesome :D All the 205s on the 'trader seem to be 1.9s though. Never actually driven a 1.9...

Someone on 'ere killed one round a track. Oil starvation I believe plus the plethora of niggling issues you normally find on the 1.8T means it wouldn't feature on my list :p

Drivers and screwdrivers springs to mind. Not sure about these problems you mention on the 1.8T? Superb block if you ask me, internals good for 350HP, strong Garrett K04 turbo not the soft KKK turbo..

Had mine for two years now, upgraded to hell! Only needed a new MAF so far..........i'd still love a MKII Golf though

Yumm!!

Nissan Micra <3

On a serious note go for the clio. I have witnessed some abuse to them things yet they still stand strong.

Until all interior and exterior parts shake off whilst the electrics spark off like a lightening show :D:D:D

I laughed at this for being typical o haha its French crap.

Then last night a bit of door trim feel off and hit me on the head! :p

Driven a lot of cars and the one that has taken the most abuse without the temp gauge even moving on the hottest days is my old Evo 3.

I gave it hell every time I drove it, never a problem.

Honda's, i've yet to come across another engine that doesnt make you feel guilty touching the red line with every gear change.

a lot of cars just run out of acceleration before getting close to the redline.

Oh come on people, the clio isn't even in the same league as the honda's with propper vtec engines! I've seen loads of old wrecked clio 172/182's that have been abused and destroyed, and i've never seen a dead VTEC. I'm sure a propper fan of the clio's that maintains it well will have a good car for years to come, but if you don't look after them they won't last long. With the honda's all they ask is that you change the oil now and again and as already said in this thread, it's the only engine that is happy in the redline!
I can appreciate the clio is a great car, awesome in many ways, but sadly it will never be as good as a honda when it comes to reliability. If you wanted a car that you really could just get in and drive like you stole it every day you honestly can't do any better than a honda.
