Couldnt have a look at your gas bills quickly for me, say for the last month and see what it says you've used?

Mine says I've used 4000 kWh in my august bill..

Thats what I read for the gas then thats what the guy came out and read at the time.

I'm not quite sure how to work that out into kWh, I actually thought that my meter read it in kWh so now I'm confused!

It was summery, heating was off only hot water on. We have an electric cooker to!

No idea what they are in kWh.

We haven't had the heating on once and other than the hot water, it's the only thing that uses gas.

Maybe they've been thinking I have imperial, where as its actually done in m3 now Ive checked.. gunna work this out because clearly its bloody wrong!

ah yes this conversion factor is often the reason people have huge bills, where kwh readings are being converted again to kwh, people don't even question it or bother to ring the supplier. there was a thread in here recently where people were thinking their £150-£200+ per month was normal.

you are entitled to a refund of any over charges from the time the energy company started making this mistake.

I think I've worked it out.

Jun reading (apparently by me and the meter reader guy): 17166
August reading (by meter reader): 17535
My reading today as per picture (17342)

I knew I hadn't used that many bloody gas units, the meter reader was just too lazy to look properly.. I know its on the floor but still, to think I used that much gas in one month is ridiculous and then obviously they're now going on predicted gas rates from that month, thinking I'm using 4k a month.

Edit: Ive lived here for over 4 years

Their website is useless, apparently it can't do math calculations quickly. So I've got to wait till the next bill for them to see what it says, I've got a feeling I'm gunna have to have them investigate it. I really cant be bothered to go through all the calculations myself when its their fault :/

Apparently I still owe, even after a £173 debit.. £105 being carried to the next bill. Just ridiculous. Charging me 139 in one month for gas, during summer when I have an electric hob :@

Thats a lot of hot water being used. Something is seriously wrong!

I'd rung them this morning but their servers were down or something so had to ring back now, they seem so clueless on the phone about working it out, surely they should just be able to put in my proper value and balance it out since the last reading I gave and they gave (being the same) and then averaging it out over the time, then doing the same for the money.

I'm 100% sure that I'm not supposed to be in debt considering the actual amount I've used.

The leccy being that high I expect due to the consoles, pcs, tvs, charging batteries for kids toys, our stuff that charges up ect ect ect aswell as an electric cooker.. but not the gas.

/endrage

Just phone them up and give them the correct reading.

Always the first thing to check on large bills, make sure the readings are correct.

"Our servers are down at the moment"

How often have you heard that when ringing up about faulty utility bills?

I seem to get it about 50% of the time I ring up to moan about anything...

Co-incidence?

"Our servers are down at the moment"

Aint that the truth, funnily enough it was right after I looked at one bill online, then went to check another and it didnt work so figured I had enough information to call em and speak to them.. lol

Im pretty sure I've worked my gas usage to 20 a month tbh but we'll see when the bill arrives.

Wow you guys get it cheap!

Every month is like 75 quid for me, even through summer. (4 bed town house, gas hob also).

I refuse to have heating on until end of October and it doesn't come on in March.

My wife seems to enjoy turning the heating on full blast, then sitting on top of the duvet in the bedroom to watch TV/Read rather than sitting under the duvet and saving money.

Will superglue the thermostat stuck if she tries it this winter.
