Battlefield 3 thread - Server details in opening post -

During the Alpha I never really minded the website. Surprising really since I've hated every BF, all of their browsers are sluggish and compared to Source browsers they don't have as many options.

Origin is terrible though. Somebody has added me and they have 100 friend's so they can't have anymore lol. I guess they're not trying to take on Steam.
 
why did it download to C:? I specifically requested in didn't download to c: ffs

Well that's me for the night.

Was quite looking forward to trying it, now I cannot actually be bothered to even load it up. Think I'll stick to BC2 until the full product is out. Cumulation of Metro annoyance (STUPID Spawn locations when I pick base into someone's crosshairs) and the steaming pile of proverbial that is ALL things Origin. (I had to create another EA account on a 2nd email to link a Master ID of fail to it to even be able to play)
 
yer but remember when steam launched, that was terrible aswell.


takes awhile for things to improve.


but being EA it probably never will get to a steam ( as of today quality level )
 
So metro runs butter smooth on a single GTX580, yet to find space on a CB server lol. Though i want to know how it'll run at Ultra, as it's disabled.

I heard on a battlefield forum that EA said the rumours of there not being ultra textures etc as false.


when I tried caspian before with ultra it looked wicked, lowering the settings there after I could see a big difference.

Steam was new.

EA had years to copy the best bits of Steam and utterly failed at even doing that.

Origin is nothing new or innovative there is no excuse for the level of polish it so obviously lacks now. Their first failure was forcing this Master ID crap, what's wrong with a login via email address and then let me PICK MY DAMN NICKNAME whenever I want containing whatever I want. I am forced into picking some retarded Master ID that I cannot change and is forced ingame because EA has 50 million profiles? Well whoopdedoo - Good for you.
 
to get on the CB servers, you just need to spam join them. Wait until one has 0 players then keep joining it, if it tells you that it cant find the server, this is good! keep doing it and within about a minute it will join you to the server :)

probably had a response or two by now(haven't caught up with thread yet) but I have played until level 11 on xbox due to early access and I enjoyed it. exactly what I expected from bf3.

Just downloaded on pc on the open beta and had a quick play for ten mins and preferred pc. both play very well and I would be happy if I had to stay on xbox. but owning bf3 on PC HELL YEAH!

Found another really annoying origin issue.....in steam when there are large updates for games you can happily stop them etc without issue, close steam, shutdown for the night etc. I've just had an annoying issue where closing origin started a 3.3GB update on a game from scratch..after already getting to 60% >_<
 
Help system struggleing, good spec

i7 920@4GHZ
6GB @ 1600MHZ
ATI 5970

...and im struggling in places (everything maxed 1920*1200), what do you think my problem is with the above spec graphics card or ram.

Im using 4.6GB max in game of ram but my GPU shows 99% usage (though BC2 isnt far off and I get over 100FPS). I get another 10FPS if I overclock my GPU but this creates massive fan noise. CPU @ around 50% usage.

On average im hitting around 47FPS outside (not clocked) dropping down to an unplayable 35FPS in areas (around the sand bags and smoke middle of the map).

What do you surgest?

Because I cannot pick ANY master ID on my main EA account that I use for everything else (BC2 etc) with auto-login ticked that's it. Stuck in a loop.

Auto Login
FORCED to pick Master ID (Which I cannot)
No access to Log Out options
Cancelling Master ID Profile bit closes Origin
Open Again
Auto Login......
Repeat

Had to totally remove all Origin config files manually (Luckily I know where to look for this crap) JUST to be able to pick a new email to login with.

Play within the means of your hardware.

IE - Lower your settings as you clearly cannot Max everything?

Hmmm i'm not sure. I haven't been abled to try CB yet but on Metro i can't see any difference between High and Ultra at all.
