6950 artifacting

Yeah well obviously :) ... You created the thread to find a solution to the problem, so be prepared to trobleshoot... No point saying im getting artifacts 'Help!' but im not going to bother troubleshooting...

BF3 flickers like a mother here too (running the latest "BF3 drivers" before anyone asks) and that's on a 6970/6970/6950 trifire setup.

Something just isn't write with the game at this beta stage and I imagine it shows itself in various forms on different hardware setups. I really wouldn't worry Masterdeadly and imagine there is nothing you can do about it - sacrifice yourself to the devs as we always have to.

It's fun isn't it? Paying lots of money and investing in hardware to only be let down by rubbish drivers or shoddy coding.

HTH!

i down clocked my 6950 xfire setup, both cards HIS iceq turbo 2gb factory oc cards, i turned my memory clock from 1280 oc to 1200 and stop my artifacts in bf3 and reduded my temps by about 8 deg and that was with fans turned down from 70% to auto settings so its cooler and quieter after i upped from high settings to ultra, i think they may be a memory probem with this game atm, gpu ram issue or something

Well I pushed my Fan to 100 percent getting 70 degrees max so it seems whenever it hits 70 degrees it artifacts so when I watercool it should reduce the temps by 20 degrees = no artifacting. I'm also making a youtube vid to show you my artifacting.

Your going to spend hundreds of £££ on watercooling a card that might be faulty¿ lol

I sent this exact card to overclockers 2 weeks ago for RMA - artifacting came back nothing was wrong with it. I can only assume they test it on a open testing board therefore it runs much cooler and the artifacting doesn't happen so I can conclude from that this is something to do with a overheating GPU.

I'd make sure you can get the card to artifact in other games/benchmarks before splashing out on watercooling. Also it shouldn't be artifacting at 70C

Would be interesting to see that video

You actually bought 2 of those antec spot cool fans? Hope not at the full retail price! You could have bought an aftermarket cooler for that with just little bit extra!

But see what clocks are at with Memory. Use afterburner to check. Also you can check what voltage it is running when load/idle.

That's not artifracting, that would usually be an indication of the core being run at too high a speed. However, it's purely BF3 beta - wether it loads the card harder than any other game is another question (extremely bad coding if it does!.)

Seriously, don't go all this watercooling stuff as a) you won't do it and create 50 more threads, and b) temperature does NOT cause artifacts as you keep saying it does.

Overheating can cause artefacts but not at 70C usually, doesn't look like a memory/ texture issue, like Ovr said could be core speed running to high. If it doesn't happen in any other game then its most likely a problem with BF3 Beta. Have you tried looping Unigene heaven 2.5 yet? or perhaps underclocking your card with MSI Afterburner?
