BF3 Beta FPS thread

Got my beta installed and I'm running somewhere in the region of 40-70FPs constant at high/ultra with 2xAA and 4xAF @1680x1050, even managed over 100fps indoors on Metro. Running 11.9 drivers, about to try 11.10 to see if it makes a positive impact.

FPS seems to drop a lot when going to a new area but it goes up pretty quick afterwards, looks like I don't need an upgrade

hmmm seems unusually good for your system..... other people with far better gpu's are struggling..

I should be ok then.

I tried changing the fov with notepad (not ++) and the game wouldnt start had to use the backup.

You cant use notepad must be a hex editor like notepad++

Its truly baffling. The results are so erratic between systems its a joke. I hope they release a fix that applies the settings directly in the game, rather than having to exit or wait until the round is over, because I still feel people are just firing the game up for the first time, switching from "auto" (which should run well on most systems) to "ultra" and thinking that ultra has been applied.

Some of these charts showing graphics card/fps tables are RUBBISH!!!. I'm getting 60-80FPS on my system. It plays great on Ultra settings ....

Amen. That chart showing the GPU's and the comparable settings you will be able to run the game on is a load of crap- it's not an official chart anyway and is completely ******.

It's weird, it's the same with Red Orchestra 2, loads of people with cutting edge hardware were getting bad results, mine plays it absolutely fine. Seems like a good system combo Some screens below for proofs etc. Looks lovely and defaulted everything to high/ultra with 16X AF which I promptly dropped to stop my cards from melting

Take 10 away from those figures for Caspian but it's playable.

I have a similar rig to you Fury and am also quite pleased with performance, running exactly the same graphics options as you are but playing at 1920x1080. Getting about 40-70 fps outside on Metro, 60-90+ inside, using the ATI preview drivers.

Definately getting the odd stutter now and again (especially when spawning on someone) and noticing the odd glitch but on the whole it is surprisingly playable

MAN im astounded at how high the hardware specs are in this game to run 60+.... i think i will need to squeeze every bit of performance i can get from my 2 6970's to keep this thing in the 60+ on ultra

Explain, as it makes NO sense for me.

Probs won't be able to play at more than 10 fps mind you, but oh well, at least it plays

I got the same rig almost but getting the stuttering a lot. Had to turn tesctures to High, shadows to Low and turn off AA now its smooth. Are you getting the stuttering? Its caused by out 5850s only having 1GB VRAM

Vsync is not working in the beta, i have tried fraps with it on or off and it still reads well over 60fps.

I reset FOV to 70 from 90 and can play Ultra at constant 90+fps, shame it looks consoley at that FOV

Why is this game running 40fps+ on absolute max settings on my 6850? I thought this was a card killer.

seems to drop a bit more, more like 30fps+.

6850 replace the 57XX series not the 58xx series. You'll want a 6950 or 570 if you want all the eye candies.
