All over the world...
Hi all,

Spent most of today wandering around stores ie Comet and Bestbuy to name a few and am interested in getting a new TV....ive seen the new Panasonic 50" 3D plasma TV...think its the GT30 model which if im not mistaken are the newest Pannys out??.

Anyhow the guy demo'd one for me on display and i was pretty impressed...been looking at a few reviews and its been highly rated from the looks of it.

Anyone here has one and what do they think of it??...at £1300 its a lot of money for a TV...not really interested in the 3D bit but i suppose it would be good to have for future use if i ever needed it.

The guy at Bestbuy said that he would throw in a pair of 3D glasses if i took the TV so am tempted to go back tomo and buy it.

I rate them I have the VT50b so pretty much the same TV. I have been really pleased with mine so far. I the same as you didn't buy it for 3d but I have watched a few 3d movies and its pretty good, avatar was just awesome on it.

Thanks for the feedback...ive read quite a few online reviews and it seems like the TV is very highly regarded. Suppose having the 3D there for future reference is always a good thing.

Think im gonna go back tomorrow and have another look at the TV.

My 50" VT30 arrived today, will play with it later and report back. I saw one on demo properly setup and it blew me away. 2D and 3D quality was just amazing. I was inbetween going to a UE46D8000 or VT30, and it was a no brainer. Just bought 20 odd 3D blurays just to try out 3D hah

Generally the d8000 spanks the vt30 just so you know.

And i have a panny plasma and a sony bravia here before anyone pipes up ;)

You have a panny plasma but is it a VT30?. On what gounds can you make a statement like that?. Is this a personal opinion or do you have some experts information to back it up that ppl on this forum might find an interesting read myself included. Just because I own the VT30 I still like to read about other TV's. Don't get me wrong I would imagin that the Samsung is a great TV and can't comment myself as I have never seen one. My bro in law has the 55" Samsund8000 LED version and it is utter crap picture wise although I do like the TV's looks and its menus and Smart features are somewhat better than the Panny's. As for picture quality though it comes nowhere near.

Well i finally bit the bullet and ordered the 50" GT30 Panny plasma...only thing is that they are out of stock for a week or so as it seems to be a very popular tv. Got a good deal for £1200 with a couple of 3D glasses thrown in.

Cant wait for it to arrive.

I just got the ST30, the model below this one for £899 - couldn't really justify the extra for the difference myself - although I would love to be able to! No 3d Specs though :(

I'm looking forward to seeing how much of a difference it will be from my G15 of 2 years ago

I am sure you will both love them. I went shopping biased I would go LED, but when I tried the plasmas, the picture just looked way more natural. When I saw a calibrated VT30 I bought one there and then.

Cracking TV enjoy!

My ST30 arrived this morning, pretty good first impressions with the 30 mins I had with it before work, will have a better look later, unfortunately have to wait 10 days for the 3d glasses though :(

I'll try a pair of my friends samsung glasses upside down tomorrow, to see if they really do work this way!

I have the 46" GT30 and I'm very happy/impressed with it, now they've fixed the terrible fluctuating brightness issue with it!

I've tried the 3D with a couple of blurays, and I have to say I'd rather watch the films (eg: Avatar) in 2D. But I didn't buy the GT30 for it's 3D image quality, I bought it for it's 2D image quality.

Right bit of an update...so bought the tv from bestbuy with a couple of 3d glasses...was told that it would be with us in 3-5 days...over 10 days go by and no sign, so i call up bestbuy who told us that they had none in stock and dont know when they are getting any. So i told them to refund the money as i didnt want to wait...no problem.

Went last week to John Lewis in the new Westfield shopping centre that just opened up a mth or so ago here in east london, stratford. Anyhow much better deal from them, for £1300 they were throwing in 2 3d glasses and a 3d blu ray player...result!!! lol...they only had one in stock so that was delivered yesterday...got home and set it up...huge tv compared to the 32" lcd that we had lol.....BUT ONE BIG PROBLEM....the dreaded green tinge thats been pointed out on av forums...well my set had it so off i go today to john lewis to get it sorted only to find out that they none in stock company wide :(...sooo i ended up getting the 46" version as to be honest, 50" just looks too big for my room sadly and the 46" will probably be a better fit for my front room.

Now i just hope the 46" doesnt suffer from the dreaded green tinge that was prevalent on the 50" set that i have now...fingers crossed...its still the gt30 model though.

When I bought my GT30-46" from JL, they couldn't supply my 2 pairs of 3D glasses to refunded me nigh on £260 :) And this was on a set they'd already dropped £200 in a price match :)
