SGS2 Stock Rom?

So i just bought an SGS2 from Three and its full of all their bloatware, etc. Can i get my phone to be just like an unbranded unlocked one?

I've heard about flashing rom's but not looked into it properly, could anyone help me out a bit please?

Are there any just plain stock roms? Like just exactly how the phone would come if you bought an unbranded one?
 
I know you are asking about stock ROMs but if you're going to the trouble of flashing the ROM I'd take a look at other ROMs that are available as there are a lot of advantages to some of them. VillainROM is very good if you're looking for a ROM with good battery life and you like Samsung's TouchWiz. I'm on GingerMod which is very stock Android (AOSP) looking and I much prefer it. As people have already suggested do some reading and sign up on XDA Developers.

And there's CM7 if you want a proper AOSP ROM.

I looked at CM7. It is very feature packed but I saw some people saying they were encountering a lot of bugs and the battery life wasn't great so I decided to give it a miss for now. I plan to take a look at it at some point when some of these have been ironed out.
 
CM7 isn't there by the looks of things yet, it inches closer everynight. I'm using it on my i9000 right now and its beautiful. When it's as stable on the SGS2 i might look into buying one! (Should actually be relatively cheap then too!).

Why are you scared about using another ROM? The Galaxy SII stock ROM is so much better than CM7 because everything works.

Bluetooth, hardware acceleration across the whole UI, HDMI out and SamsungDive.

The Galaxy SII is a beast of a phone and so quick at stock, the argument that people are happy with running beta software with missing features because it's minimal just doesn't make any sense.

If you're wanting CM7, you're going to be a root user and if you're a root user then you're going to be able to freeze "bloatware" with a number of applications on the market that require root.
 
Cheers for all the input guys, i want a purely stock rom as i plan on selling the phone when the Nexus Prime releases and buying that. I'll decide when its properly announced though, i might stick with the SGS2 if its not as impressive as i expect it to be!

I figure it will sell a lot easier being unlocked and unbranded than with Three's logo on boot and their bloatware.

I'm not new to flashing firmware on devices but i'm pretty scared of doing this with my SGS2 as its so expensive and new! I bricked my PSP back in the day... (after many many successful flashes).
 
It's stupidly simple to flash the Galaxy S II and I think it's increasingly hard to brick phones these days. I'll never forget the horror of bricking my brand new N97 a few years ago though. Thankfully I was able to flash it back.
 
Just wanted to throw another thanks to you guys for the info as i've now rooted and flashed my SGS2 with an unbranded stock rom :)
 
Can you flash between different stock firmwares without breaking anything or does it wipe the phone? I've got XXKI3 (Android 2.3.5) with CF-Root installed now, if it makes any difference.
 
2 things, CM7 for SGS2 is out with a stable build now although the nightlies were pretty good at the end, it was just proper bluetooth support that seemed tricky. I'm on the last nightly and haven't noticed anything at all unstable.

And a cautionary tale, I rooted my arc and deleted a bunch of the stock apps then my GF needed a handset quickly so I went to put it back to stock with a factory reset and I'm assuming the lack of certain apps caused the whole thing to restore all wrong so it was crashing, no app store access, half the touchscreen wasn't working etc etc, was a nightmare to fix.
