Battlefiled 3 on HIS IceQ 6950 - Quite Surprised!

Another battlefield thread! sorry!

anyway after people posting up average fps for the 6950 cards i was like... uh oh... just bought a card and wont be able to run it even on medium high

well just tried the beta today and my HIS IceQ 6950 Turbo runs it on Ultra and Full HD with average fps around 45 - 50. Even on evefinity goes to about 25.. which is still quite good for a single card....

Apparently Ultra doesn't change anything from high on the beta.

The 6950/70 is a very under rated card IMO. I've got a single 6970. However I think eyefinity will struggle!

oh ok! well.... i was expecting doom on gloom even on high.... think people way over hyped the specs for this game... ive not even overclocked my CPU or GPU

I have same card and although I haven't played it due to the fact they didn't let us configure the mouse and that has been the mainstay of my gaming from COD 1 ....my lad plays it and it looks great, yeah we all know its not the final release and things will change and those who got on caspian say there was a drop in FPS but......a lot of folk on here are seriously into upgrading, sli and crossfire, Hell, even trifire seems the norm for some, but they want everything on completely max settings...as far as I can see, we shall be just dandy on our "lowly" 6950's

It's in Beta... when it's fully released the graphics engine will have been tweaked a lot more and will run better on tech that isn't the very top end.

Single monitor Np, switch to 3x1, drops to 25-30fps and is making me want to get another 6950.

and people are correct, the ultra settings dont do anything, at most they are on high but i've not seen anyone confirm what texture file we actually have been given.

are we expecting better or worse framerates on the retail with ultra settings?

1) ultra textures drop framerates

2) optimization improves framerates

At the very least I would expect them to optimize the game, so that more people can play it, as making a game that only high end users can acceptably play is, well, self defeating and not a good marketing strategy. CATER TO THE MASSES !

Why wouldn't a new game run on a £200 graphics card!

They would have a seriously small market if a 6950 struggled

There are plenty of selections is the graphics menu to tweak this game to run well

Not everyone runs on ultra though, the optimization will effect all of the graphic settings in various ways, hopefully all beneficial.

lol i wasnt expecting the be all end all but they way people were speaking about it on here... i was expecting a rele bad performace on anything over medium... especially with a AMD 1090T CPU and cheap 4gb ram sticks... but it runs well
