This article goes on about the difference between high and ultra...

Good article, but the difference between ultra and high detail is that small for me, that it's not worth losing fps over it, the same goes for AA deferred vs AA post, i'd rather have no AA deferred and keep AA post on high.

The first and main thing i do in games for me, is to test differences between the various details to see whether it's worth it going for the max setting and reducing your fps.

so you can join as a a team by creating a party in battlelog if the server has enough empty slots and does not have team balancing enabled and once ingame you have the option to leave squad or rejoin the same squad and nothing else

Wait so pretty much the best bit of battlefield (squadding up with mates to take down objectives and using coordinated tactics to dominate) is now gone! Yay someone at DICE was listening to the communi....oh wait.

Nice article Wes, though the 570GTX on my machine allows me to run Ultra with 45+ FPS costant. i guess the CPU Hyperthreading helps maybe?:D

Nice, thanks.
Although they may go on about the difference between Ultra and High, there is still speculation to whether it's even enabled.

I quite like this though:
GeForce GTX 580
For those who are lucky enough to own a GeForce GTX 580, expect a near-perfect experience. We're talking about 1080p at fully maxed out settings (Ultra). You have to hand it over to DICE for their lighting engine; at Ultra quality, the radiosity lighting, soft shadows, and ambient occlusion come together and play off each other to produce scenes so rich and nuanced that they look like they had been art directed. At this quality, the game plays like a trailer.

There was uproar about Ultra requiring 2xGTX580 because of a tweet from a twit (that's like the best source of all source obviously). Who knows, maybe they meant at higher resolutions? I don't know.

i pre ordered and got metro, but how do i get Caspian?

They've already closed the Caspian servers, I think they were only up for something like 3 days.

I really don't like Metro once you actually get into the Metro system. That might be more to do with low FPS though.

Liking it so far - although one thing which I don't like is how the gun system works, few maps I get dumped as ruskies constantly, get a pimp'd out AK74u, next round I get dumped with yankees and a m4a1 with nothing. :(

C'est la vie. The pp2000 is quite nice, not that good at range though, but working on getting the SCAR-H, as engy is so fun to play...

Since my last [negative] posts about the beta, I have had a chance to dip in occasionally and I have to say, the game is growing on me. Had quite a few ggs last night, running around the subway with a shotty is guaranteed pwnage :)

However, the server browser and squad management systems are crap. The in-game menu/options fiddling is nonsense, and there is noticeable rubber-banding with you dying after you duck behind cover etc. The map is boring by now (obviously).

So I have gone from annoyed to mildly enthused. Keeping the pre-order and will wait and see if anything changes. I am thinking this might not be a day-1 install.

EDIT: Also on my current settings, with a GTX480 my FPS is about 40 - 60+ on Metro, but it feels "managed" e.g. artificially smooth at times. Sort of like how V-Sync can mess your frame rate about (V-Sync is disabled). I think the settings I am on could be toned down for a higher FPS, and it could be contributing to my initial negative impressions of the game. But because of the ***** in-game menu, nothing can be done :(

I have 2 friends on my Origin and 17 on Battlelog, but I don't remember adding any separately for Origin. Any idea how the two interelate?

EDIT: Also, should I have Raw mouse input set to 'on'?

Well I only got the Beta yesterday and have played for a few hours, my first thoughts are, BC2 with prone and bi-pods. I know the map is a rush map so is similar to bc2. If I had gone round a mates house and watched him play this and he told me it's a new BC2 map, I would have believed him.

Not too bad though, can't wait to see the conquest maps.

If any of you got the chance to play Caspian Border, you'd realise this is good despite the bugs, and Rush originated from Bad Company.
