Female body builders, just why?

wKGDw.jpg

ahhh lol

I can't see the appeal of body building so I'm insecure.

You should be a psychiatrist or something, buddy.

I don't even... you don't have his physique because you're taller than him??
Way to completely miss my point dude...

No I don't have his physique but am only slightly lighter (with probably a similar amour of body fat). Aka my weight is spread over more body, hence why the average tall person is heavier than the average short person. I would probably need to be a Stone or two heavier to have the same physique as him due to excess height. At least that's an assumption as to why I'm a similar weight but do not have the physique...

My comment was nothing to do with me wanting that physique or using height as an excuse, rather a sensible statement in the whole kwerk debate. He may be 30heavier but maybe a few inches taller than that guy.
Assumed or hoped? ;)
More an anecdotal experience so neither. It is just odd to me that most of those that used to bodybuild at my gym were shorter than average and that most I see on the street are also shorter...
Arnold... was about 6,2 and most IFBB pros are 5,8 to 5,11 and that '4chan fit bodybuilder guy' was 6,1ish and you WONT get that physique through labouring...

I know, just because I said a lot appear to be short doesn't mean there aren't taller ones. I just have more respect for the tall huge guys because it probably took a lot more effort (and asthetically they are more "pleasing to the eye" because IMO they look more proportional rather than square.

As for the 4chan guy, I have only seen the photo on here and that sort of physique can be got labouring, there are plenty of young labourers with that sort of physique. Perhaps that photo isn't representative of what he actually looks like but that is what I'm going off.

You appear to be rather defensive and took most of my post out of context...

Shoes I'm confused... What insecurities? I'm on your 'side' here...

I'm not defensive in the slightest... I was just correcting your rubbish :D

So you are suggesting that height has nothing to do with the relationship between build and weight...?:eek:

So someone weighing 11st at 5'8 is going to have exactly body shape as someone with the same weight at 6'1?

If so I'm not the one that is wrong...

Nope, you were just clearly looking for a reaction and attention by calling people who go to the gym gay... so troll or insecure, take your pick ;)

No I said that body builders look gay.

And it's not trolling if it's true :p

No, no the body builder look is much better, I agree

mmmmm sexy ;)

you do know that picture has been heavily photoshopped?

also only like 0.01% of bodybuilders actually look like arnie in his prime, i bet if you saw the average bodybuilder you would be jelly. when they walk into a room, average men are in awe and women get wet.

you have been programmed through tv, magazines, the media, films, etc to want to look fit and healthy and muscular, people who say they dont are simply living in denial

a lot of broscience in this thread

bodybuilders are slow and bulky = myth (proven in thread)
bodybuilders are all manlets = myth (proven in thread)
bodybuilders look terrible = myth (only the ones at the extreme end of the scale do and only when they are competing, when they are in their off season they look fine)
bodybuilders all use steroids = myth (they do help but the majority prefer the natural route as it is a lot safer and healthier and the reason why a lot of them do it in the first place is to be fitter, stronger and faster)
kwerk has high muscle mass = myth (proven in thread)
kwerk has a clue what he is talking about = myth (proven every few posts throughout the whole thread)

the below physique is roughly what most bodybuilders look to achieve imo

as you can see his muscles are not too big, they are a lot bigger than the average male, but a lot smaller than a mr olympia.

he has great abs and is cut to emphasize his physique.

kwerk wishes looked like him or even had half as much muscle as him, unfortunately though he is like the Michelin man in comparison

Just no :/

That's rubbish you don't have to have one or the other. Look at modern rugby players - big well developed, and reasonably lean, yet can run up and down the pitch for 80 mins whilst taking several knocks along the way.

Guys, I'm not talking about your average bodybuilder. I mostly meant at the very top of the game. You WILL lose strength by doing cardio all the time to build endurance. The people at the top simply can't afford that and thus don't do cardio.

Rugby players can be huge, but they're nothing compared to a bodybuilder at his prime. When doing cardio your body burns energy in three stages. Proteins is the last, and that is where the headaches begin for the top bodybuilders that most of them simply can't afford.

So what I really mean is, you can't be a top athelete and a top bodybuilder at the same time. The 'middle' is still highly impressive, however.

lol don't worry, I was just having a tongue in cheek dig at steve's comment to me - we're cool broham!

Ah ok... And which case I'm not actually on your or kwerks side then. I assumed you were agreeing with steve-h...:p

This is only barely a myth, the amount of steroid use in the UK let alone the USA is through the roof. More people use steroids than smoke cannabis.

You see them as gay and I don't.

whos gay now brah?

So you are suggesting that height has nothing to do with the relationship between build and weight...?:eek:

Well the idea is to grow in proportion to your height. If you're 6,3 and 130lbs you are underweight for your height, if you're 5,5 then you're just fine.

You're skinner than him if you weigh less and are taller. I'm not sure what else there is to that...

So someone weighing 11st at 5'8 is going to have exactly body shape as someone with the same weight at 6'1?

of course not. Following on from before, if you had the same ratio of fat/mass to height as the guy in the picture then you'd have a similar build.

when they walk into a room, average men are in awe and women get wet.

I wouldn't go that far... :p

Yes, of course I do, I sifted through loads to find one which was clearly obscene.

My old man was a body builder back in the day, sadly his accident in 1999 put a stop to that. Doesn't stop me taking the **** out of him though :p

I appreciate that most body builders don't look like Arnie (do they want to, or is that just an extreme a handful of people go to?).

Have to be honest, yup I am not fit in the slightest, 2 stone overweight according to my BMI and I eat pretty unhealthily. But, I'm quite happy like that, it's satisfying just eating whatever you want, whenever you want - I don't envy the hard work and dedication which goes into the body building lifestyle, although I respect it. I don't understand it, but I respect it nonetheless. Even if it is a bit ghey :p

As for wanting to be like a body builder? Pretty indifferent tbh, I have never wanted a body like that, I did a few months of weights when I was younger just to humour the old man and eventually was just honest with him and said that it wasn't for me. Then I went out on my mountain bike, had a laugh, got some exercise and made some good friends. If it's puling women you're interested in, I've genuinely never failed using charm and wit alone. Generally speaking though my life is interesting and full enough that chasing skirt comes almost a close last in my priorities.

As for being envious of the bodies of body builders? Being in denial? Standing in awe when a body builder walks in the room? Simply LOL! It's not like body builders have achieved something because they're special, ANYONE could build they body if they wanted to and were prepared to put in all the work (as said before, I respect the fact it's a LOT of hard work and dedication).

It's sure as hell no talent. I'm envious of amazing photographers, I'm envious of Jenson Button's ability to drive. I wish I could play the guitar like Eric Clapton. But someone's muscles? Come on!

Well that is certainly my ideal, but sadly i have to disagree with you about 'most' bodybuilders desires there mate. In EVERY single gym i've been too I've not come across a single guy who in the pursuit of bodybuilding, hasn't wanted to be huge, and nearly all have resorted to gear. I wish i could say different, but that's just my experience. I've trained in meat lockers, ponsey gyms and leisure centres alike, but the guys always seem to be the same. They don't (imo) do this for ideals of getting fit and strong, its purely vanity. Nothing wrong with vanity, it's their choice.
But my experience tells a different story to your i'm afaid. I think maybe some do start out with the ideal of being ultra fit and strong, but then the alpha gene kicks in and they want to be bigger than the next guy, whether they compete or not.
I've nothing against that at all.....i'm just pointing out my opinions and experience, but that pic you posted? spot on ideal for me.
