Bidets are very sensible appliances and should be standard fittings in all bathrooms. Foolishly rejected by the unhygenic English because of their association with wicked French prostitutes.

A famous reference to misuse of a bidet occurs in Henry Miller's Tropic of Cancer - far too few people know that . . .

My old man and his missus have a bidet. They don't use it mind. It is quite new as well.
