I built a pc this week and downloaded 13 games

As the others have said, concentrate on a couple, my choice would definitely include Mass Effect 2 or Dragon Age tho, excellent games

I built my dream pc this week to be able to play the latest games

CPU: i5 2500k
MB: Asrock Extreme 4 Gen 3
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14
GFX: 6950 Twin Frozr III GFX
SSD: 128GB Crucial M4
HD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda
Case: Silverstone Raven RV03 Case
PSU: Corsair TX750
Monitor: Dell U2312HM
Speakers: Acoustic Energy Aego 2.1 Speakers
Keyboard: Sidewinder X6
Mouse: Logitech G500 Mouse

Problem is i've downloaded:

Crysis
Anno 1404
Mass Effect 2
BFBC2
Prototype
Dragon Age Origins
The Witcher 2
Just Cause 2
World at War
Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty
Supreme Commander
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Deus Ex: Human Revolution

And none of the games are really gripping me, i mean the graphics are incredible, but im getting bored and closing the games. I used to get a new game and be obsessed for weeks and I used to love it. I feel a bit down that i've spent so much on basically an xbox 360 with incredible graphics.

I stopped playing warcraft in january this year and I played black ops on xbox 360 those are the last times iI felt the buzz of gaming, i've had the odd moment with mass effect 2 and bfbc2 but not enough to get me lost in the game. Im downloading WoW again now. Hopefully i can recapture some of the joy i used to get from gaming.
PC is effectively treated as another console nowadays with better gfx so most games will not have much depth anyway!

Buy Fallout3 GOTY lots of gameplay & a superb game one of the best ever made. If you like action games with some RPG elements buy the following all are superb on PC gameplay wise & look great:

Dead Space 1
Dead Space 2
Batman Arkham Asylum
Resident Evil 5
Bulletstorm
Lost Planet2
Dead Rising2
Bioshock1

Limbo (classic 2D platform game)

Try Half Life 2 and Portal 2. Nice immersive games. Batman is good too, very console-oriented and great with a pad (360). Dead space is a creepy 3rd person shooter. I enjoyed it as well. 'Enjoy' maybe not the right term. Would be like enjoying having to crawl through raw sewage in order to save your life.

I dont think its ever a good idea to go back to an MMO. And I doubt that you will get the same vibe from an MMO that uses the same mechanics, or that has a top heavy, majority vet playerbase with effectively only twinks to keep you company on the lower levels.

Perhaps try a free trial or two MMO that uses different mechanics than WOW/EQ clones. [I've never tried WOW for that reason, so cant comment on that game specifically]

Of the games you listed only Mass Effect 2 and Deus ExHR gripped me. Draggon Age 'grip' didnt last long enough for me to finish the game.

I think as a returning PC Gamer you have to be more careful about what games you buy. I've had more luck with steam indie games than so called AAA games that have 'tried and tested' game mechanics.

You can't have played much of these games in a week!

Maybe you've just been over-exposed. You suddenly have access to all the best games and you can't settle on just one. A similar thing happened to me when i built my PC. I spent the first few weeks flicking between loads of top games before i settled down and i believe the first game i played all the way through was Crysis. I loved it and from then on i played lots of games right through.
They are all story driven, do you not like that type of game?
All of the games you listed there are first class imo. You knew about them before downloading them right? It's probably just a phase and like i said, you will settle down:)

If i had the choice to play through one of those games for the first time again, it would be Dragon Age Origins, or maybe Oblivion.

This. That's my one issue with Steam, everything's so cheap that when I buy a game off there I don't put any effort into playing or liking it. I've got so many games to choose from that I don't care too much about any of them.

On the rare occasions I pay full price for something I tend to enjoy it a lot more and persevere if it doesn't immediately grip me.

Your problem is that you have got 13 games in one go no one normally does that unless their is a huge sale on steam. You are spoilt for choice, I had this problem in the past when I bought a load of games in a steam sale. If you had paid full price for a game then you give more than the time of day.

I'm going to ask you a question - would you attempt to read 13 books at once? Picking one up, reading a chapter, picking another book up, reading a chapter etc? Would you try to watch 13 films at once switching between them every couple of minutes?

Of course you wouldnt. A good game has to be treated much like a book or a film, they have stories now, and although it may take you a while to get ingrossed in them it will be far more rewarding if you tackle them one at a time.

You've bought too many games. Buy one to play through before getting the next. Do you have that feeling of anxious guilt? trying to pick one to play, but knowing all the others are there to play eats away at you so you end up not playing any? :P

Classic Steamsaleitis.

I knew there was a condition for this. I just never knew that it had been diagnosed. :D

Aye i bet you are just game bouncing.

A game wont grip you if you spend just an hour on it.

I have this problem from time to time I have around 50 uncompleted games on steam so many i just play for an hour then jump to the next. But when i finally give a game a chance i usualy get sucked in.
