MSI 580 Lightning 3gb

£479.99 for a card that is fast yes, but I would get 2 x 560ti's in Sli.

2 x 570s in sli is just too expensive to one 580.

Pros:

Faster than one gtx580
Cheap overall

Cons.

Massive power requirements
Some Microstutters thanks to two cards running together
Massive heat going into the case, make sure you have a good case for pushing air in and especially, getting rid of the heat in the case.

2 x Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6950 TOXIC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with FREE DIRT3 & Deus Ex Games £239.99 inc VAT each

recent tests performed by our very own thomas soderstrom confirm that the radeon hd 6900-series features vastly improved scaling performance in crossfire compared to previous-generation boards. as such, a pair of these cards represents a realistic pinnacle for our recommendations. at $550, two radeon hd 6950s handily beat the geforce gtx 580, and even come very close to catching the pricier radeon hd 6990 and geforce gtx 590.

Not just that, the 6950 Toxic is £50~£55 more expensive more other models 6950 2GB. That is a very high price premium to pay for the sake of the card MAY unlock.

Apart from the OcUK (VTX) card the TOXIC is currently £20 more than the next cheapest HD 6950 (which isn't even in stock).

It's £40 more than the OcUK (VTX) card.

Unless you need the 3GB for multiscreen or to run a ridiculous resolution why don't you just get the normal MSI GTX580 Twin Frozr II and save £100?

i'm the MSi rep here so I would say this but yes it's worth it ;)

bear in mind that the 832MHz factory clock is plenty for most and faster than most reference 580's can manage when pushed to their absolute limits sp you can't compare standard benchmarks.

That said, our lightning card and cooler are capable of much much more and with MSI Afterburner software a 950Mhz GPU overclock and an extra 400-600Mhz on the memory would be well within the limits of the card, most examples that I've seen push 1000Mhz GPU and 5800MHz RAM

but if you want an unbiased viewpoint, check out the recent Vortez review: http://www.vortez.net/articles_page...ng_xtreme_edition_graphics_card_review,1.html

Hi sorry to hijack your thread but saw you were the MSi rep so wanted your opinion. The new MSi 560ti 2gig version, any experience of the sort of overclocks that have been achieved on that?

Card in sig runs quiet not tryed to clock it yet as it`s fast enough for my gaming need`s :)

yeh nice one guys, im not bothered about the price as it will be covered by business funds.

the sli option, its more power. i only use 1 screen..... 580 alone out performs better than sli 560ti on paper.
