Forza 4

Christ that was quick - saw this thread and started reading the wikipedia page.

Better go and set up the xbox then, is the demo available on silver as I very much doubt I've got gold.

Oh and how is it with kinect ? Many thanks in advance

Out on the 7th for Silver members.

Thanks !

Guess I might as well get the xbox ready nonetheless, I'm sure I'll have a ton of updates waiting for me

Also have to see if I can get one of those 24 hour or 3 day live codes if they still exist.

It's typical how time starts to drag when you know of an actual release date :o

Enjoying the demo but as I have recently been playing F1 2010 I have been undsteering badly as this is a completely different driving style.

Just need a bit more practice and it wont feel as difficult to keep the car on the track. Am I right in thinking the full game will be released in the UK on 14th October?

Just been playing it some more, my God it's good. I'm loving it, I can't wait for the full game. The cars feel soooo good when your'e 'in the zone' and driving it like it should, I'm finding the AI great too.

As far as the steering goes, I just played back-to-back with simulation and normal, and turn-in definitely suffers when using simulation, which indeed does suggest too much lock when using the controller, as I expected. I'll stick with 'Normal' when using a controller, 'Simulation' is best left to a wheel.

This is only interesting for fanatec wheel users that wants to use REAL 900 degree steering in Forza Motorsport 4. Forza Motorsport 4 still doesn’t support 900 degree automaticly… When your wheel is set on 900 degree Forza will think it react like a 270 degree wheel. It has been like that in Forza Motorsport 3 aswell. While in Forza 2 it was perfect apart from the Force Feedback being to weak.

nah thats not a fix, i have the pwts and i remember reading that ages back
in regards to f3, all that did is like it says enable 900 degree mode, even when 900 degree mode is enabled ppl are saying that it auto enables 240 mode when counter steering ove 90 degrees, then once that done it goes back into 900 degree mode. to be honest f3 never did support 900 it supported 720, i checked this myself and the wheels stopped turning at one full revolution of the wheel.....

wether it does or doesnt auto enable 240 degrees, the fact is the game makes steering inputs for you, so there is a steering assist even when in sim mode.....

Do the AI drivers try and overtake properly now? Rather than only really getting past if you make a mistake like in Forza3?

Well, love the game to bits from the demo, sounds great looks great feels a lot better and a lot mroe involved than 3, sure the 30fps mirror can look a tad off at times, but sacrificies have to be made somewhere, this is 6 year odl hardware!

Just done a few more races on the demo just now, and thats it for me, no more :) Simply due to the fact that I know I'll like it know it feels great, just finished Forza 3 on Sunday and really don't wanna to overplay the demo, I love to have a connection to my garage and my cars & progress in Forza, so I'm gonna wait it out, take a 10 day break from racing games and be fresh for launch :D

I thought the sound was awful and the graphics far too dark. (This is on a 5.1 setup and calibrated plasma before my setup is blamed).

The handling seemed excellent and generally the graphics are good, a little too shiny and the roads lack texture but on the whole ok.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought it was too dark. Hopefully there is a brightness adjust in the full game otherwise it will be a pain as now the Xbox dash + other games look washed out.

I've had some great races with the AI in Forza 3.

Don't get me wrong, it's not bad. But it's not as good as it could be in some places. I've also had a lot of fun on it.
They don't seem too adaptive sometimes of what is going on around them. It varies track to track. Around Nordsclieffe both at the start and the end of the laps they slam on the breaks over the crests for no reason which just makes it all a bit easy some times (unless you don't expect them to then nail them in the rear :p)

There was a racing game I used to play - can't remember which - that used to have AI cars which would copy your lines through corners (including cutting them sometimes which was fun.

They didn't really seem to make mistakes in Forza 3 bar breaking too hard on many corners and then overshooting the breaking points on Lemans (specifically in the Veyron!)

I think NFS Shift 2 has had the most exciting AI to race against that I can recall off of the top of my head.

My brother and I play 6 AI vs us two (I hope we can do 14 ai in FM4) and they make mistakes, a lot, plus they push you hard. However I have noticed it's less so in SP.

We had about a 2.5 hour FM3 session on sunday on various tracks and saw all sorts of carnage between the AI. In one instance I had come off at an earlier corner and was catching back up with the pack, my brother was just out in front and was out onto the straight when the pack hit the corner. I was about .5km back when there was a shower of debris and cars flying off. Suffice to say I got second place with ease as the pack decided to mangle each other. Only 2 made it out unscathed but they had to slow down to avoid being caught up in it, I managed to stay at full throttle and thread a way through (the beauty of a well tuned FXX :D).

Haven't tried the new AI in the demo as I spent yesterday playing with the Zonda, but I'm hoping they're more of a challenge than the FM3 AI, as there was just no challenge, even on hard.

I wasn't going to get this straight away. I had pre-ordered BF3 instead. Well, i'm cancelling BF3 to get this. The demo is spot on and I cant wait to get my hands on it.

The full game has dynamic AI that can auto-ugrade their cars to keep them competitive.. how well this works we'll have to wait and see, but it is one solution to the eternal problem that you can't have 3 AI levels that suit everyone..
