Female body builders, just why?

Why are they all this colour? And why would these people deliberately make themselves look soooooooo ugly? Jodie Marsh used to be quite fit tbh...

Is that not Kerry Katona next to her, and the blond one ... wasn't she in hearsay, and isn't that Martina Navratilova at the end?

I appreciate all of the hard work, training and diet sacrifices that body building competitors put in. Having been to a few body building competitions I have a pretty good insight into the physical and mental pressures that competitors go through.

However, its a shame that (once again) Jodie Marsh has had to use this as a PR stunt. Theo Walcott's sister also took part in a body building comp last year - with no fuss or need for publicity... and won.

Saying that, it has highlighted the sport in the press which can't be a bad thing for them (the bodybuilding associations & competitors etc). Typically reported incorrectly.

Just a shame its Jodie - could never stand her!!!

It looks like she's put in a decent effort tbh... bit more than just a PR stunt surely given the amount of work she'd have likely had to put in to get that look...

You sound like you're having a moan, I think you'll find a general consenus on here of relative dislike for her but for what she has done is quite an achievement, even if she had a trainer.

Yeah my thoughts exactly.

the fake tan and the look is just for that 1 show.

in 1 months time jodie marsh is back to normal again, but looking even better due to the higher muscle mass.

these competitions are basically the extreme end of the scale, where they dehydrate themselves and strip away all fat and darken their skin in order to show off the muscles better.

so imagine the same person but hydrated, bodyfat back to normal, skin back to normal, they will look completely different.

Something to do with the colour and lights, showing the highlights of the muscle tone i think.

But why just Ronseal Deep Mahogany stain?

If the objective is to display muscles more clearly, why not use different colours? It's as obviously fake as a Smurf, so there's no question of a natural look being desired. Any decent make-up artist could use varying colours as body art to more effectively display muscles.

Not a clue, I just remember reading it somewhere, if they over do it, it looks horrible as hell but if its subtle then it doesn't look as bad. Thing with the makeup artists and all that is that the definition of the muscles could be visually enhanced with shadows etc, where as a solid dark colour and all the lights gives a fairly natural visual representation of the definition etc is the way I see it anyway.

i would reckon price is a huge factor to be considered too, these people don't get a lot of money from the competition and i think all of them apart from the ones at the very top make a loss.

so fake tan is probably the easiest and most cheapest option, plus i dont understand how you get the idea that using blue would look just as natural. there are no blue people on the planet but there are people who are brown/black. so therefore it is a much more natural look than using blue but obviously not as natural as just being tanned or african.

also i think the darker the colour the better it displays the muscles, therefore brown/black > blue
