Leg cramps at night

If I stretch when I wake up (which is a natural reaction to do anyway) then I get it everytime. So I can't stretch when I wake up. Sucks big time.

Random thought.

Do people with skinny legs get these nocturnal cramps?

I've inherited heavyish legs which probably didn't get any lighter by cycling for years.

It is truly crippling waking up with cramp. Horrible sensation even if you're not moving, gets marginally worse if you do... Always seems to be an entire leg for me :(

I have skinny legs and used to get cramps, used to be superfit and have great diet also. Now that i am a couch potato i need not worry about such unnecessary distractions.

Anyone else get these? I had a dilly of a calf camp on Sunday night and it's still sore and tender today. :(

I get them now and again, what helps is to riase the matress at you feet about a couple of inches. Hope this helps becuase i've had them in both legs a once:(

I used to get these quite frequently when I was in my late teens. I put it down to growing pains.

I occasionally wake up in the middle of the night when a calf cramp begins, and takes a bit of control to not move the muscle so as to not make it worse and more painful!

I was climbing on the climbing wall the other day when I was reaching for a hold, and I suffered a calf cramp. Not as bad as the ones I sometimes get woken up by during the night, but it still hurts.

I never get cramp through the day but I have on occasion stretched out while in bed and ended up hurling myself around the room in agony and crying like a girl.

I get the calf cramp in the middle of the night very occasionally. Usually if it's cold and my leg has been outside the duvet.

Yep, I end up dancing around the room swearing. Usually caused by a casual stretch :(

I had something similar to this, but only had it once.

I was asleep but then I found myself awake after suddenly hitting the floor and my leg in agony in a really awkward position. Could hardly move. Was ok after a few minutes.

It was one of the strangest things that has happened to me at night.

I put a hole in my wall once when trying to stretch out a calf cramp.

My room is in the attic so it's got slanted walls, woke up with a calf cramp, stuck my foot on the wall and pushed - "pop" goes the wall!

I get it regularly. Doc says drink more fluids (think he means water tbh)....as for bananas, I can't go that route due to their potassium content and my kidney problems.
