Car insurance for 17 year old

LOL no, £6000 for the MG ZR 1.4. It was £2,830 for the clio. And just getting a rough idea, ive only had 1 hour behind the wheel with my pa and dont have enough for a car at the moment, it woudl be a christmas present with all of the work ive been doing. The company on confused.com is called express insurance.

EDIT: Wrong price.

Glad I'm getting a motorbike till I'm at least 18. Insurance is a non issue on a bike really.

Try something a bit different rather than a normal ditch finder such as a Clio, Fiesta, 106, 306, Saxo.

It's still a bit strange you're getting 2.8k as your quotes it would think we can get it sub 1.9k on a decent car!

Biggest advice i would give you is wait until your 18. I saved over £600 by delaying getting a car 2 months when I passed just by ticking over to being 18. That was 5 years ago. Now you would be talking 4 figure savings.

2800 is pretty high. I was 1300 at 17. Shop around, don't use comprassion sites and phone companies up.

I've had cheaper quotes through comparison sites than I did direct sometimes.

Swings and roundabouts, you need to explore all options to make sure you're getting the best deal possible.

Try insurethebox - my mate used it and got a good price.

Also try getting quotes on something a bit different, e.g Mondeo / Vectra. The person with the cheapest car insurance (by quite a fair bit) at sixth-form was my friend with a 1.9 Vectra. I presume that a lot less 17 year olds crash diesel Vectra's than they do 1.2 Corsa's.

Check your postcode on there, anything worse than a C and you're more than likely in for a shafting any which way you try.

Is this the same if you insure against third party liability only?

May be worth it on a £200 turdmobile?

I insured with admiral's 10 month policy - £1,230 TPFT on a focus 1.6. Although I was 24, but had just passed my test. Half way through I added my g/f onto the policy for £17.50.

After 10 months I renewed again on another 10 month policy for £725 inc. my girlfriend on the policy.

The first year is a ******* but you must bite the bullet sometime. The second year makes it worth it IMO.

EDIT: My mate kyle's brother got some new fangled policy prohibiting him from using the car 2300 hours to 0700 hours, or similar. Significant discount I believe - he was 17 too, vauxhall cavalier IIRC.

Not necessarily, sometimes on the street is cheaper because some insurance claims are made from people crashing into/out of garages/driveways.

EDIT: Knew I would get beaten to it

Pretty amazing stuff, I never knew this - always assumed garage was cheapest option! Thanks for the tip!

Hmmmm.... My postcode is a B, though for some reason this year its seems ill be paying for the dearest year yet?

A lot of insurers coming back around £2200 over my £1500 from last year....Just waiting for Sky Insurance to send me my renewal quote, see if the ST stays or not.

Wasn't there a young guy on TV recently who said he couldn't afford to insure a car so got himself a tractor as that was cheap, he was filmed moving around the town/village he lives in on his tractor. :)

So glad i insured my car when i didnt have a full license I passed a few weeks ago and im now down to £500

Normally when you pass and tell your insurers they charge you extra, because driving just passed is classed as more risky than supervised learning.
