Recommend me a Media streamer please

My Live Box is fantastic too; it does what the OP wants, but he shot it down immediately. So, i didn't bother trying to defend it.

I'm glad some others can recommend it!

I liked my WDTV Live, I just got fed up with compatibility not being as good as PC players, and it lacking some other features too (actually things like advanced sub support beyond basic DVD style playback seems to be something all the streamers lack)
I did like the simplicity of it though, and it did a good job for it's price, but after going full way to a virtually passive HTPC, I think I'd struggle to go back.

There's something streamers do easier than HTPCs, things that HTPCs do better than Streamers. Horses for courses and all that, neither option is bulletproof.

Sorry guys - don't mean to belittle anyones choices in the matter. Reason I steered clear of the WD TV is reading about complaints online, and the fact it is cheap (well much cheaper than the others!) I assumed its that price for a reason.

Looks like I'm going to go for the Dune TV 101 btw - they should be entering this country this week some point

Mine didn't work to well on a custom ROM I put on.

I reset it to default and it's been flawless since.

I have a Boxee Box and love it. Works perfectly straming 10GB+ HD rips from my PC, playing music or showing pictures. No issues with updates etc.

While it can stream internet content a few click and you're away from that and into your own media.

I highly recommend them.

The Boxee supports DTS HD MA and DOLBY HD, it also supports 3D - it really is the best media streamer IMO. I've used a WDTV live and quite frankly it was a joke in comparison.

I have the popcorn hour A-110 and love it. But I read today there is a new version about to be released, the A-300.

And i've used Boxee and thought that sucked a$$ - i much prefer my WDTV Live.

What did you think sucked about it?

Honest question as I used both before making a purchase and found the Boxee to be much better than the WDTV.

AFAIK my upstairs Viewsonic VMP74 at £59 is a steal and plays everything I throw at it but MKV's come in a lot of varieties,
