Zambesi (Bulldozer) - 2 Questions

I haven't exactly.
I was just want performance, AMD can't offer me that in the CPU department.
I do still make AMD builds for people from time to time.

not our fault u prefer playing poorly coded single-threaded old games mate ;)
tbh theres hardly anything in it playing the latest titles :p

Dude just google it. Theres a site called gahbur or something that has had some work done. Theyre not speculative dont listen to these skeptical guys. Just follow the site you'll be fine.

4 threaded, and unfortunately there is a bit in it.
You'd gain quite a hike with your 5850 CF using a 2500k.
A 1055T at 4.375GHZ couldn't push my 1000MHZ 6870 CF.

Lol.

Your doing it wrong dude ;) - I very much doubt any decent mid-high end cpu is bottlenecking any range of GPU's until you get into quad/triple gpu territory.

I would however like to see some benchie results if this is true? :)

Frames are much more consistent too.
Ask the majority of people who have switched.

Just look at the game results at 1680x1050. If the bottleneck is evident there by such a long stretch, it's still going to be there at 1920x1080 and up.

Of course, that's a very limited selection of games ; 2.

But RTW needs a hell of a CPU to play with mods like I use, you simply can't do it on a Phenom II as it only uses 1 core, so naturally a 4.6GHZ 2500k is a lot better.

The Witcher 1 ran a lot more consistent on my 2500k.
Some game are perfect on the Phenom II though, don't get me wrong. They're not "bad", but they're no where near as good as current Intel CPU's.

Works the other way round mate - The higher the res you go - the more GPU dependance there is.

Besides - none of them games appeal to me - poorly threaded single core games? I don't see any of the decent multi-core games in there

I only play BF3 tbh - so looking forward to BD release and official BF3 release so we can get some solid figures.

I know, however, increasing AA will add a little bit to CPU usage etc, as will resolution, while it's still more heavily dependant on the GPU, if you're already that far limited, you could lower frames even more by adding a little more onto the CPU overhead.

And the point is, games are coming out poorly optimised etc.
And I wish people would stop saying single core, they'll be multi threaded, the question is how multi threaded.

EDIT : Ok, you've proven a few are heavily multi-threaded, I've never denied their existence, just said they're in the minority.

Hating Intel will only get you so far :p

True - ok multi-multi-threaded :P

To be honest for gaming theres not much in it for CPU's.

I'll be happy though if an 8150 keeps up with a 2500k for gaming, and a 2600k for the truley multi-threaded stuff - As I've run this system for over a year and a half now without any major component changes - A simple slot in cpu change beats having to change motherboard and cpu ;)

Ivy doesn't need a board change :p

I'm just glad I have to wait until feb to build my rig. There will be plenty of options. Ill probably still go with the sandybridge though and then upgrade to the ivybridge at a later date. But if the bulldozers blow apart the benchmarks. I might have to rethink.
