Tomorrow ill be getting another 6950 to add to my machine. The question is, my xfx has just stock speeds of 800mhz and the new card has pre oc'd speeds of 850mhz. will i have to reduce the 850mhz to work with the xfx card ?
 
So say if i unlocked my xfx 6950 to a 6970 then CF with the new 6950 thats not unlockable would that be better than just CF with 2 6950's ?
 
You can't CF a 6950 @ 6970 with a 6950, the PC will see the modded card as a 6970. Has to be 2 of the same cards, brand doesn't matter but they both have to be either 6950s or 6970s, you can cf 2 modded ones though.

Also you'll be fine with 2x6950s unless you are going for big resolutions, 25600x1600 or eyefinity etc. Even then they do a stellar job.

i dont think that is right actually, i think you can crossfire any two cards al long as they have the same first two digits

69xx and 69xx should work

That's wrong. You can Crossfire a HD 6970 with a HD 6950. See below.

Need some moar help. Probably a question that gets ask all the time but, only 1 of my crossfire bridges was long enough. Do i need both bridges for maximum performance ?. Also is there anything i need to download now im running Xfire. I enabled it in CCC but doesnt really give me any other option
