So HTC have released ANOTHER phone.

On the inside, the Gingerbread-running HTC Sensation XL is quite similar to the Windows Phone-powered HTC Titan - Qualcomm MSM8255 chipset, featuring a 1.5 GHz Scorpion CPU (single-core) and the Adreno 205 GPU. The RAM amount has been increased from 512 MB to 768 MB, though.

Outside you get a 4.7" S-LCD of WVGA resolution, which makes up for pixel density of 199 ppi. There's a Gorilla Glass panel in front of that to protect it from scratches. The profile of the metal-clad smartphone measures just 9.9mm.

The HTC Sensation XL 8 megapixel main camera is particularly interesting as it features a 28mm wide-angle lens and bright F/2.2 lens, which should improve its low-light performance dramatically. The 720p video-recording isn't quite so impressive, though.

Why don't they just focus and make a single refined phone to follow up the Sensation instead of releasing what looks to be a new Desire HD with a few changes?!

The Sensation XE is surely a better all-rounder than this.

Wait a single score phone? Seriously HTC?

This is just an excuse to use that shiny beats think they have bought

Yes, but it's just such a pointless phone to release, don't you think?

Why create a thread about it then? :p

Big devices are fashionable here at the moment, HTC UK pick whatever designs they think'll sell and leave out ones that probably won't (3.7" qwerty version of the Sensation, Evo 3D etc)
It's not about designing the best possible phone, they're competing with ZTE, Samsung etc for pure volume sales with minimal outlay.

Luckily people like us can cherry pick the genuinely new/good ones :)

Its not high end enough to attract the power users. Main stream possibly but i dont see the neeed over the XE, should the XE have been packed into this form factor?

What really confuses me is that this will probably be offered on contract at the same price as all the Sensation variants, won't this just leave Joe Public really confused? I think HTC would do better to just keep it a little bit simpler

The pixel density is terrible

I hope a phone comes out for me by xmas.. None yet catch my eye!

Not even the prime with proper pixel density on a massive and high res screen that should match (or better) the Retina display for reading test zoomed all the way out?? :p

I'll believe this when I see it.

If small fonts are easy to read, I will explode with joy.

Just got back from a HTC event were they showed this phone off, have to say for a single core it was flying which is something kinda of hard to do with Sense. Although its 4.7" it didnt seem any bigger than 4.3". The beats sound is actual really good.

All in all its a decent phone, looks really nice in white but nothing really amazing about it.

This isn't a phone about specs, its a phone for people who wear big lary headphones in the street. I can see why they have gone for this market, it's much more trendy looking than an iPhone.

I wouldn't have used the Sensation name though, it's a bit misleading.

4.7 inch SAMOLED screen, 1.5 GHz dual core, at least 1 GB of RAM, and a better battery, along with ICS and I'd be a happy chappy. What is this crap HTC?

Is it really that big of a market though?

I think people were hoping they would just incorporate the Beats Audio stuff into newer phones as a selling point, not make a load of half-good phones with Beats Audio headphones included.
