Nexus Prime

Lack of apps and customisation is what bothers me on Android....

I could have accepted that comment if this was early 2010 but sadly it is no longer 2010 and this statement makes no sense whatsoever.

As is this:

A bigger screen would be ideal.

SGS II needing a bigger screen? Bizarre...

About apps? You can't argue that Android apps are at the level of iOS apps, they most certainly aren't.

He means bigger than the iPhone (I think).

In terms of games, yeah the app store is way ahead but the selection of general apps the market has is'nt that far behind in terms of an app that will do the job.

Panic over, this sounds more like it -

Today is a busy day for Nexus Prime - it's been all over the news more than twice. Just hours earlier, we told you about a 'trusted source' who told BGR the phone's key specifications. Well, they may turn out to be completely and utterly wrong.

We were contacted by a tipster from inside Google, who claims to be familiar with the next Nexus phone and he basically put the previously speculated specs to sleep. As usual, tips like these are to be taken with a pinch of salt, but for now we're buying what this guy's selling. What you are about to read is quite dazzling.

According to our source, the device codenamed Nexus Prime is going to ship with Samsung's own chipset, probably the Exynos, with a blazingly fast dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. But wait, there's more.

On that chipset will also reside a powerful dual-core GPU from Imagination. We suspect it's going to be the PowerVR SGX543MP2, or in other words, the same GPU found in the iPad 2 (and quite probably on the iPhone 4S as well).

On the back, instead of the 5-megapixel snapper, our source claims, there's an 8-megapixel, full 1080p HD video-shooting camera with some sort of an improved sensor. As for the battery, expect a 2050mAh one (do we hear a whoa?), which should be good for a couple of days use without charging.

The Nexus Prime will also be LTE-enabled, but the most interesting part is that it would probably boast a dual-mode GSM/CDMA radio, just like the Apple iPhone 4S.

All those specifications sound almost too nice to be true, but keeping in mind the advertisement for the Nexus Prime, prompting us that "something BIG is coming", we won't be surprised if all of these purported specs turn out to be real.

What we do know for sure is that the head-turning 4.65-inch, 1280x720 pixels screen is definitely a go. Whatever the truth might be, we'll definitely find out on October 11, which is just a few days from now.

No led lights
Poor camera
Not an amazing battery
Will not use nfc

On those 3 points I think ill pass on this, may seem 'petty' but having green led for emails, orange for battery, blue for gf text and pink for other texts is really useful! More these new phones disappoint the more I think I may stick with my old desire longer

Would love 8+ mp but good camera
Super amoled screen
4.3-4.5 screen
Dual core but 1ghz is fine
720p
Decent speaker
Notification leds
HTC esque style shell
2000mAh battery.. Hate having to always charge my phone!

I'm now holding out for the Sony erricson duo.. If it exists with the specs on gsmarena.. All it seems to miss is 720p but annoyingly super amoled

I really don't get this big deal about NFC at all

I agree, though it was quite fun using one of the apps on the market to read my biometric passport. Pointless but fun.

I was put off by the original specs but with the revised ones my interest is back on with this device as well :)

The "revised" spec sounds more like it. Bring it on!

I've stopped reading all these "Exclusive" specs :D

Only last week Samsung bigged up the next mali GPU then signed a deal with Gamesloft to optimise games for it.
Why would they suddenly change to powerVR just for the Nexus Prime? Makes no sense...

Agreed, but I think the revised "spec" is more like what most people were expecting, no?

Hi guys. Current iPhone 4 user, contract up this month. I have no loyalty as such, have had a BB in the past also. Like my iPhone, but getting bored of it after 3 years in the apple walled garden. Want to go Nexus due to having a pure android experience. Android Market can supply me with all my current apps apart from sky go, which is coming. So, just saying hi, and that the new specs for the nexus prime have me a bit excited!:)
