yea the box is rated to 700nm, there are other maps that take it to 730+ but they are risky.

J1nxy I've been looking the alpine upgrade but read that the amp isn't up to much if you wanted to replace the subs with the svs8 earthquakes in the future? That's why I was going to do a staged upgrade with the logic 7 tweeters and midrange, then say the blaupunkt amp, and then the svs8 subs? All this goes into the car without modification and looks 100% OEM.

shame you're not closer though, as it might be that the alpine setup is good enough! Hard to know without hearing it though

Wouldn't really help as I sold my E90 6 months ago.

But to be honest the amp with the speakers works well. I'm no audiophile but it made a huge difference and the amp'd subs work very well.

One of the things I liked about mine is that the stock audio was actually way better than I was expecting. I didn't feel it needed an upgrade.

It's still far from perfect (unless logic 7). It's a far far cry from the woeful E39 and E46 audio days though. Mine is adequate especially when AUX in as the phone has DSP on it which allows some fine tuning which is nice. Problem is, mp3 (unlike a CD) is not a governed format so some songs sound great, others sometimes lack bass or have way too much of it, all of which is frustrating in a car environment.

I thought the sound quality of the E90 as standard was a little better than the E46, but not much. The OEM upgrade kit replaces the door speakers with an alpine set, adds tweeters into the top of the doors and amps all the front speakers including the subs under the seats. For the cost and ease of fitting I'd recommend it and it makes a woeful system listenable.

It is VERY cheap for what it is. It's a very early M Sport (one of the first) but even so its very well priced.

Totally agree on the E46 front, but DSP and the sub in the boot meant that if specified properly, the sound system in the E39 was excellent.
