My bill looks a bit strange, we have V+ downstairs but there is no mention of any V+ fee's on there.

Still i think its a good deal.

Last month it was about £45 for XL TV, Phone and XXL broadband.

Added Sky Sports & HD which has now added £30 onto the bill.

From next month though i'll have everything adding Movies and 100mb to the mix for an extra £2 so that'll be around £80 :D

I will be putting an order in tonight for my new flat, anyway of me trying to wangle free stuff?
I'll be getting,
XXL 50mb BB
L TV
M Phone

The mrs gave them a ring not long ago to see if any 'deals' could be done and she was told that we could get a 12month contract with free install and £60 off the first bill.

Will they be anle to tell if there is a vm line installed already? As when i viewed the flat i saw a telewest box on the wall.
Would that mean i dont have to pay line rental?

Cheeeers!

Don't they do 6 months half price for new customers?

This seems like a pretty impressive deal. Was this a threaten of cancellation or just what you got as a new customer?

basically i had Sky HD TV (£63pm) and Virgin 50mb broadband + M Phone (£51pm) and both contracts had finished. Sky had offered to throw in phoneline + broadband for free.

I've been made redundant (well voluntary) so i played on that. said i want the best deal because i'm out of work and didn't want to pay over £100pm for Sky + Virgin i wanted all or nothing. Told them i had phoned sky etc who had offered a similar package for £63, which they had but i'm over 2k from the exchange so by the time i get the broadband i only receive 2mb.

The retentions basically said cos 50mb is the best (which it is, can't get 100mb yet) there is a premium. said how much. she said an extra £7 on top of what sky had offered. RESULT!!! Extra charge of £49.95 for TiVo and £70pm for all my tv/sport needs and i'm saving over £40pm.

Yup, pleased with what we have - has taken some negotiation over the years to keep competitive.....most recently was the broadband upgrade to 30Mb from 10Mb. In a nutshell, was going to go for 20Mb as this would have worked out less than £1 more () with pricing at the time, and our vast array of loyalty discounts....they promised a SH, then sent a normal one, I called and whinged, threatening to defect to Sky and so on (even though they seemingly don't supply SHubs on <30Mb) and they apoligised for me having been given duff information, and promptly offered me 30Mb for the same price (with SHub, which has turned out to not really be a blessing :p )....on provision I agreed to 12 month minimum term on this new, revised package.
Result :D

Still.....always want more, and I plan to keep badgering away for TiVo without the upfront cost, however my bargaining positioning is reduced as I am only about 5 months into the 12 month term.... (boo !)

Well, well, seems persistence has paid off !
I now have Tivo coming (Oct 28th :D) for the princely sum of £0 upfront, and then the standard +£3/month. I was kicking off a little as Tivo was always going to be No Installation fee, but with £49.99 Activation....the latest round of advertising was No Activation fee....but with £49.99 installation ! Complained for some time, and managed to illustrate that a new customer package was advertised with no activation or installation charge, and the Rep (retention/cancellations) advised that there was a cotnradiction in some web advertising and that "if you are telling me you have seen this" then I could get Tivo for no activation/installation :D

TBH, they really struggled to get this on for me, stating that the discounting on our account was truly phenomenal - better than staff, they reckon  - but there it is £49.90/month for the whole shebang of :

30Mb broadband
Cheapo phone package and standard line rental
XL TV
Tivo (500GB)
V+HD box (getting relocated to a different room as part of the Tivo deal for free !)

What a deal, well done Virgin ! :p
