Yep - running 2560 x 1600 with a i7 [email protected], and a single EVGA GTX580 1.5Gb@797Mhz.

Good grief. 20-30fps tops. Latest beta Nvidia driver.

Thinking about going SLI, but will the extra GPU be effectively useless considering I've only got 1.5G of RAM?

OK.... on that note I'm gonna buy another card based on this recommendation. I mean, why not eh?

That's just it though, no one knows

The beta was a month or so old and so won't represent the final game truly and it's all just guess work at the moment.

Your better off just waiting for full release and then seeing how well your system performs, deciding if you want or need to add a second card

My vram usage with two 6950s was into the 1800s but whether that's per card or split between both cards, again we don't know.

I'm willing to bet that the top next gen cards will max the game out fine. I would imagine they are waiting for games to come out that warrant the need to buy them.

Thus I think you would be better waiting and running that game at 1920x1200 instead untill the new cards come out because from the looks of it even the 580's are struggling above this resolution.

This is what im for doing, the cards i have are a bit older, but ill be happy enough to play with a few less details/lower settings, (screen res is 1920x1200) until new gpu's are on the market, theres nothing really worth upgrading to at the minute.

I am really concerned about my cards.

I currently have a 5970 + 5870 tri-fire and really cannot afford to upgrade.

In the past I was accused of being a troll for expressing my concerns on how these cards would run in BF3 and I fear my thoughts are becoming true due to the limits of VRAM.

How do you think these would run the game with 2x AA and all on high.

Sadly I could not test Caspian as it kept crashing back to the browser within 30 seconds.

I would wait for the game mate and see how it it optimised. As you say, you cannot afford to upgrade. So stop worrying and wait and see mate. That setup is still a beast

Yeah defo wait and see mate. No use worrying. With 1080p, I think you'll be fine with that system.

Everyone said this but I never saw it official confirmed. I did test the FPS between Ultra and High and it was negligible. Shame really.

Do you think you'll best FPS with Eyefinity mate? I am hoping to reach High with 60-100 fps on 6048x (rather than Medium)

Doubt it, id say most settings on medium at 5760x1080\4800x900, looks like more graphics grunt is needed. I dont use bezel compensation as its possible for you to lose people inbetween the bezels as they can go behind where it is. :eek:

I tried it in the end, could get about 60 or just over on Caspian with 2 6950s. Not bad really all things considered, that was on high/ultra, although ultra apparently doesn't work. No AA though, thats a killer and fairly unimportant on 30".
