My cousin is wanting a computer for christmas from his parents. They have a £300 budget.
My first thoughts was an i3 2100/2120 build on a H67 board, but then I thought about the video editing bit and that quads/ hex's cope better. Ive now gone done the route of looking at AMD 950/955's (possible Hex unlock, but doesnt matter if they dont).

This is what Ive got so far:

Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H AMD 880G (Socket AM3) microATX DDR3 Motherboard £66.98

Seagate Barracuda 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DL002) £41.99

Cooler Master GX 450W '80 Plus' Power Supply Cooler Master GX 450W '80 Plus' Power Supply £35.98

edit: sorry that was presuming he didn't need an optical drive. you can get rid of the TX3 and add in a dvd drive.

I'd get that as well, for the £2 it's well worth it - so long as you can find one in stock :p

Also might want to remove your Postcode :p

kd

Ive got my location on my profile, doesnt really hurt :p
Both PSU's are out of stock, but the one Ive chosen is 450w and still 80+ rated. Albeit, the corsair PSU is good value....if it ever comes back in stock.

Pretty much similar to mine, youve just got a slightly better CPU, Ive got a slightly better mobo.

id go better CPU personally. plus you can OC the 955BE much better than the 850, which may give a nice speed boost. Plus the stock AMD coolers are quite loud :(

My old mobo is a 760g chipset....its terrible for OC :p the 880 is better, but I just noticed that the 955BE is only £6 more, so Ive put that on instead.

Cooler inst a problem right now, Ive got 2 AC freezer pro's that will cool it nicely with a small oc.
