How often do you all do it in reality then?!
People around me have all said every 4-5K an oil change will do the car engine the world of good?

Is that a bit excessive or does it sound about right?

(I drive a standard 1.4 petrol)

I get mine changed every year (I only do about 7k miles per annum so its an oil change with each yearly service) :)

Every 6000-7000 miles. Been told too many times that it's the best thing you can do for the car, and for a procedure that's not too expensive (less than the fill of a tank these days), I think worthwhile.

Once a year with the service, but like others in here I only do 6-7000 miles a year.

Though actually, I think its fair to say the oil in my old Astra was constantly..... "refreshed". As it used a litre every 600 miles or so.

Every 12 months (don't do huge miles), space it 6 months apart from the mot so i can at least be warned of impending doom with a shake and a wiggle on things though!!!
:D

I do my engine oil every year (sparks and air filter every 2 years).
I never pay some chimp £50 per hour to do it though.
Currently I do around 3000 miles per year though.

I am a firm believer that if I look after my vehicle, then it will look after me :).

I try to do it once a year. Thats the norm I believe. Mine is due next month but I might bring that forward as hate servicing the car in the cold which seems to be approaching us rather rapidly atm.

every 10k on the taxi, which equates to every 2 months (part of a full 10k service though)

the LCR before we sold it was twice a year(covered 27k in 4 years of ownership )

Whenever it's serviced. This is every five minutes for my car so theres no need to do it otherwise.

car always feels so much better after an oil change :)

oh i do mine once every 6 months, usually because im bored and fancy doing something so what better way to fill the time then changing oil and filter.

(i know.....)

Up to now, when ever the service schedule told me I should.

However, now my car goes nowhere except on the odd track day, I will probably do it once a year.

Didn't change the oil in the wifes car this year, though she does <5k in it. Grand total cost of MOT prep this year was £3.49 on some number plate bulbs, win :)

I know it is a taxi but circa 230 miles per day! Hope it is a comfy vehicle!

not really its a facelift vectra c :( albeit in elite spec with leather and some toys.

lot of those miles are motorway mon-fri on a socialwork contract i do.

could be worse couple of years ago i had a different (gold plated copper bottomed council contract) run and was doing nearly 7k miles a month ;)
