Hi guys,

About to do my first overclock, so just need some guidance/ reassuring.

First of all I've done a quick stress test @ stock (2.8GHz), using CPUID Hardware Monitor to monitor the temperatures.

Now I'm not sure which category displays the CPU temperature I need to focus on? (TMPIN0, TMPIN1, TMPIN2)?

Secondly, what are the safe temperatures for the 1055t? 62 degrees?

62C is fine for an AMD processor. I got my Athlon X4 640 @ 3.4ghz atm and during a stress test never exceeds 59C.

Bump the volts up by 1 notch, and put the multiplier to make sure the cpu is running at 3.2ghz! Run a LinX or IntelBurn test with ALL RAM for 20 loops. Then go for 3.3ghz run test, if it crashes, up volts by a notch etc etc. Repeat this until you get a stable 3.5 or 3.6 and you have a great overclock and its stable

Does that look all alright? I left Prime95 on for an hour. I haven't changed the volts yet.

I'm only using stock cooler, and thinking about going to 3.2GHz. :rolleyes:

if your using stock cooler, keep a close eye on temps, and if i was you i wouldnt touch the voltage as it will raise the temp a bigger chunk than a higher clock speed

Its a feature called Cool&Quiet. It knocks the frequency down when the CPU is idle to save power.

I've disabled two cores as I only need 4. I've read elsewhere it will help with temperatures slightly as well.

Just pretend you didn't see all that lol.
 
What the hell????

You bought a 6 core processor but make it run as a quad core??? Are you ok???

Two extra cores would give your pc extra power, even in day to day tasks... And if you play games, it's extra grunt!
 
At what point will you decide that you 'need' the other two cores?

If you're going to run a 6-core CPU as a 4-core across its entire working life, you might as well have saved the extra money, no? Two cores going to waste, fella! Might as well get them to pull their weight! :)

Also, disable cool&quiet while you're modifying your overclock or it'll throw your voltages and figures all over the place. You can turn it back on once your system's stable, but until then, you're better off if you're working with a system which exactly follows your specified settings.

Mine,
Busclock 250Mhz
CPU Multi 14x = 3.5GHz
mem multi = 6.66x = 1666Mhz
HT multi 9x = 2250Mhz
NB multi 9x = 2250Mhz
Vcore 3.75V
All other volts at auto (memory 1.5V).

With Gigabyte, TMPIN1 is the one, you will see it ramp up quickly when you start prime and lower when prime is exited.

Coretemp is useless with AMD. I use HWmonitor for temps.
I use cool and quiet enabled, under prime at 3.5Ghz, max temp with 6 cores is 56C.
Thermalright ultra extreme with one apache 120mm (1250 max rpm).
Fan profile 10% at 30C, 100% at 50C.

Finally, someone backs me up in this thread!

You have just wasted money on a 6 core processor for around £130. If you wanted a quad, why didn't you get the 955??? Excellent quad.

What you have done is a bit, erm how can I say this??? Idiotic???

Run the CPU at full speed dude! 6 cores are better than 4 yes???

I wouldnt say its idiotic, I personally use six cores on mine but i have tried 4 cores and achieved a much higher overclock, which in gaming helped much more than having six cores. Yes buying a quad core would have been better but he didnt so work with what you have OP.

My son's PC ... with an oem x6 and relatively cheap mobo just for the hell of it. This is on quiet mode with a Hyper 212+ cooler .. have run p95 for a few hours and plays games without issue for days on end so overclock is stable. Should last a few years yet :D

How did you overclock it by 1ghz using an old AM2+ board??? And isn't the HT link meant to go down to 1000mhz if you put an AM3 cpu in an AM2+ mobo?

Plus what did you memory go down to after pushing up the bus speed???

The GA-880GM-UD2H is an AM3 board.

That CPU-Z is old so maybe that's why it says AM2+?

Anyhow, I've got a few X6 machines crunching all day every day and I've yet to see one that doesn't do 3.6GHz, thats the 125w. My own 95w does 4-4.1 with 1.45v. I like my peace and quite so it's 3.5GHz most of the time at 1.26V
