With the high price even for multi threaded apps you'd probs just opt for the extra £40 and grab a i7 2600k and overclock it...would easily be better!
Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.
Of course, Intel could really turn the screw and cut SB prices but there is really no need when the opposition is so poor.
I wouldn't at all be surprised to see intel drop SB prices, especially with IB around the corner. I would expect big price drops on the BD's before xmas, wasn't the 1100T ~£200 at release? now £140...
I was surprised to see in some tests an 8core OC'd BD chip at 4.8ghz only just beating a i7 920 at 2.66ghz. If these were released 2-3 years ago, it would have been competition.
Will it blend? That is the question.
