God damn royal mail

Another thing which narks me off - I live in a block of 13/14 flats.

The main door is open until 2PM (Used to be 12 noon but the time was extended to allow for the postman turning up later).

Postman sticks all post through the main door - whilst it's clearly indicated that the door is open to get in to the flats inside.

Post goes missing from several people on multiple occassions. Letters/bills/correspondence "don't turn up" or are openned. Seems that one of the people in the flat is a ****.

A note goes on the main door politely asking postie to deliver letters to individual flats inside as post has been going missing and being openned.

Postie looks at note on main door and just walks away - nothing is delivered at all... despite the main door being open.

Cycle continues.

I was under the impression that it was mandatory for letters to be delivered to individual addresses/dwellings? Does anyone have any insight?

If each flat has it's own letter box, then yes the mail has to be delivered to each property. I would make a complaint to customer services, who will contact the manager of the local depot.

haha O dear

Being a postie myself I don't get why they would do this if true? I hate filling those cards out it takes me longer to do that then it would if people were to answer the door.

If you can prove thats what is meant to be coming then I imagine they would be in trouble for it, sure it's not something else you had coming?

Some postmen giving the rest of us a bad name :(

I know three postmen at my local sorting office and they have confirmed to me that when busy it happens. We had huge problems at our East District office around 9 months ago after they implemented a new system called "the way forward". Mail was never delivered, lost or just left in the depot.

It got so bad it was even raised in the House of Commons

http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201011/cmhansrd/cm110113/debtext/110113-0001.htm

I do have sympathy for the "postie's" as this has been brought about by serious mismanagement and nothing else.

How big is your block of flats though?
If it's more than a few, you should have a lockable post box for each flat in the main entrance area. Have this in mine and for that matter most other flat buildings.

I think this is probably one for your building landlord... if all your neighbours are annoyed, you need to club together to make them do something.

Used to have a great postman, Now they come at 2-3pm in the afternoon & don't bother to deliver nothing but junk mail. 10 days later still waiting for my Lovefilm rentals :/

Problem I have with my local office is re-deliveries ... I like many people work during the day so cannot necessarily be in when an item needs to be delivered, (particularly when it's coming internationally with no tracking so it could arrive any time in a couple of weeks window).

So I get a card through, say on a Wednesday, for the package. Fair enough. So I go online to arrange redelivery for the following Tuesday when I can arrange to work from home. What happens, RM attempt redelivery on the Friday, when of course there is no one in! And give me another card, this time saying that they have tried to deliver twice so I now have to collect. If I have to do that it's ~£15 in taxi fares.

Now I can normally get it redelivered on Tuesday but it involves contacting Customer Services and get them to have words with the delivery office but this has happened 3 or 4 times in the last couple of months now and it's a farce.

Yee - several of us have written, very nicely to Royal Mail and the management of the flats. It's still happening though. I understand that they are busy and it's a hastle to walk up stairs with a bag full of post etc (I live on the ground floor), but what is most frustrating is that we have no idea if we're missing anything now. I get as much as I can delivered to work, which isn't that convenient.

The feeling that someone in the block could help them self to our letters (for whatever reason) is very unsettling. One of the ongoing instances was a Love Film envelope being openned, disc taken and envelope left on the floor of the main door. We've been waiting five weeks for an incident letter from Royal Mail to send on to Love Film. Then again, we don't know if that letter has turned up...

I have a good postman here, (unlike DPD) but I have heard some horror stories. Like every delivery company it depends on your area I guess. Unlucky OP, I reckon your phone has been nicked...

My postman is always good and so are the delivery services in my area(Coventry, south). DPD, Parcelforce, Citylink and royal mail. All have delivered quite quickly without problems.

It says on the card special delivery, I very rarely pay extra so it has to be the phone, the only other thing I have coming is a cheap sim card adapter sent standard first class, that should come with the standard postie, they usually come between 11 and 1

Confused here....

Special delivery items come via the 'standard postie' as well they will both be delivered by the same person most likely, unless its park & loop in your area and the driver will deliver it first before doing his round.

Unless you are expecting the phone via something like Parcelforce?

Caught a postie putting a card through the door just now ...

"I knocked but there was no reply"
"Well I was sitting about 3 metres from the door, am waiting for visitors so was listening for someone at the door and heard the card hit the mat:
"Erm ... sorry"

I now have my package ...
