*** OFFICIAL Batman: Arkham City Thread ***

Last week, we speculated that Batman: Arkham City's Catwoman content would be bundled with new copies of the game, but that players buying the game used will need to purchase the character separately. Warner Bros. has now confirmed that to be the case.

As reported by Eurogamer, the Catwoman content will cost 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360, which is equivalent to $9.99 on PlayStation 3.

"Playing as Catwoman is not required to complete the game," Warner Bros. told Eurogamer.

Before confirmation came from Warner Bros., the online pass was revealed by leaked gameplay footage of the game's title screen, which reads, "Catwoman is a unique character with her own story, moves, and weapons. Unlock Catwoman by redeeming the
Code:
included in the game case or by visiting Xbox Live Marketplace."

The code will unlock four story scenes that feature Catwoman as a playable character, as well as unlocking her for use in the Riddler's Revenge challenge mode. Players will still encounter Catwoman if they play through the single-player campaign without redeeming the code, but the playthrough won't include missions that involve controlling her. [/QUOTE]

I'm confuseddotcom, I always thought playing as Catwoman was just a natural progression of the game story not yet more DLC :/

So you have to pay extra on release to see the full game..? I'm also confused.. If so what a con after all the hype of catwoman being in the game...

Sounds like a 'clever' offline pass system. Cant be integral to the story to allow them to do that. Guess its the only to stop second hand sales of an non-MP game...

ps3ud0

yer

when bought new the game, you can play as catwoman, if you buy second hand ( used ) you can't play as her unless you pay for the access * 800MSP etc )

You must have to put in a code what comes with the game to allow you to play as her.

Totally loved Arkham Asylum so will definitely get this but am a bit confused to which version to go for, special or robin or just normal :/

It's really no different to any other DLC that comes bundled with new releases then, if the code is redeemed second hand users are out of luck. Not sure where the story is here

Interesting... Not abundantly surprising, but there we go.

800 MSP = £7.

So assuming that you can pick this up second hand for £35 - £7 then you still win.

Reviews are expected tomorrow for the record, early signs indicate extremely high ratings across the board

Anyone know do the GFWL copies need to get a code to get catwoman? Buying a steam code from here so dont wana have to pay annother 800msp to get catwoman

Not ordered from Gameplay for years but they were usually decent with pre orders, never had one arrive late. I think Davey Pitch uses them a lot or used to anyway. I have ordered the Robin edition from Gameplay and I'll be happy if it arrives on release day as I'm at work anyway.

A lot of 90%'s there was expecting more of those to be more like 95%+

Having said that this game could be getting 80%'s for all I care I'd still be getting this game regardless

EDIT: Awesome new Launch Trailer

First spotting of Talia al Ghul as well

EDIT 2:

So pleased to see it getting amazing reviews. Can't believe I'm already getting excited about this when i only got Forza 4 today. Cannot wait!

An interesting quote about the cat woman missions from IGN:
Leading up to Batman: Arkham City, Rocksteady talked a lot about the Catwoman missions in the game -- that 10 percent of Arkham City was all about Selina Kyle. Well, it turns out that content isn't included on the disc. If you buy the game new, it comes with a one-time use code to download the Catwoman content. Used copies will most likely have the code snatched up and you'll need to buy the DLC off Xbox Live or the PlayStation Store.

If I can give you some advice, download and install the Catwoman missions before starting the game. Her four story missions, inserted throughout Batman: Arkham City, are a fun (albeit simple) change of pace, and literally change the opening of the game. I downloaded her stuff after beating the game the first time, and the integrated Catwoman stuff during my New Game Plus playthrough was way more enjoyable than just tackling her missions off the main menu. This is downloadable content that expands the mythos of the game as you're playing it. It explains events that are happening off camera.

Outside of the four missions, the Catwoman DLC gives you challenge maps for the feline and the ability to get the special Catwoman Riddler Trophies in Arkham City.
Luckily i'm getting the game new so i'll download her missions whilst installing the game.

Ah! Just read the release date is pushed back to 18th November... I thought it was coming out next week-ish.

Haven't really been up to date with its release, is it a new fact or has it been 'pushed back' for quite some time? (basically did they push it back a few weeks back, or is it new news)
