which 6950 is the best?

I bought a Sapphire 6950 Dual Fan 3 weeks ago, flicked the bios switch and got a 6970. Think I was lucky as not all do, but I would never buy anything but sapphire they've always been good to me.

Its very quiet idle and good temps.

So I would vote for the Sapphire 6950 Dual Fan

Really?

The only card I've heard of unlocking in that way is the Sapphire TOXIC as the second BIOS is actually a HD 6970 BIOS.

Did you confirm you have 1536 shaders with GPU-Z?

Yes

the toxic is the most expensive, ergo the best ;)
yes I know most expensiv doesn't always = the best, but in this case its true unless you happen to be wanting to go eyefinity in which case the flex is prob better.

I flashed my TF III today infact ;)

I've had both a 6950 and 6970 (both DCII's), and I'll be honest - the 6950 was quicker - it overclocked MUCH higher, just a shame I couldn't unlock it. At stock, the 6970 was maybe 2fps up on the 6950 - can't see the justification for spending the extra £60 or so.

It doesn't bother me if I can't unlock the 6950s, I was just curious on the chances of it happening with the current cards.

Thanks for the info Rroff, I didn't know that's what the OcUK cards were.

How many 69xx series cards have you bought?
