HTC Desire HD - No internet access

Bought this phone unlocked for near £500 and got a sep contract with Tesco £10 a month. Now I cannot for the hell of me get the internet working. I tried hooking upto the router/wifi at home and I can connect to the router setup 192.168.1.254 html page but google.com, etc forget about.

Tried messing with APNs, the lot.

Did you buy it new? For that price you probably did. I would try a factory reset and try again

Can you connect via 3g or is it just your wifi that isnt working? With your wifi your should be able to just goto settings, wireless and networks...... Tick wifi and in wifi settings yu should see all the wifi networks close by.
Click on your wifi network, enter password. ....... Job done.

If its your 3g you need to google for tescos settings.

I can connect to the wifi but when I goto google.com nothing happens but I can access the cfg screen (the html page 192.168.1.254) so it IS connected to the router just no internet. And my mobile internet does not work either.

I might look again for Tescos settings. Infact I am willing to reset the whole dam phone to fix this.

One thing I wannna reset the phone but I DON'T WANNA LOSE ALL MY CONTACTS!!!! Easy Q how to backup? Ideally onto the PC for storage incase phone breaks *gasps*

i belive all your contacts should be saved to your googlemail or gmail acc, when i have put a new rom on my phone all contacts appear when i have setup my mail acc

true, never crossed my mind, have you ever had gmail acc sysnced to the phone? that should do it

or download titanium backup some contact backup ipk file stick it on the sd card install and backup your contacts?

Ok so reset to factory. I am connected to wifi and I cannot surf the net ie google.com but I can goto the router setup html page 192.168.1.254, maybe I should delete all wireless things off the router incase that's causing some ip conflict or summit.

Tried deleting and no still problems.

Can other devices connect to the web via your router ?, sounds like it could be some setting in your router not your phone.

Okay reset to fac settings on the router. Comp can use 192.168.1.254 and outside - still the phone wont go outside.

Ok. I connect it VIA USB and use INTERNET PASS THROUGH MODE which means the phone connects to the computers net and THAT worked.

Now gotta get the wifi sorted

and the mobile internet settings seem alright. It's got TESCO as the operators which is who I am with. Data roaming is OFF??

the wifi thing is strange though, have you tried it on another router?

Seems to of messed up since I updated it weeks/months ago.

Anyway, last night, I updated it through the comp. (pass through) and would ya believe it. It works, proper mob internet, etc - fine, dam update.
