Hi all i've just picked out my items from the shop and have 99.9% decided that this is the one for me...
As I said I want this to be used for some video editing and playing the odd game here and there, mainly BF3 and MW3 when there released.

I already have a couple of 2 Samsung f1 hard drives and a Corsair HX620 PSU so that hopefully will have saved me a few quid..

Can anyone also tell me if the HX620 that I already have would be powerful enough to run the system specified below including the other 2 hard drives i already have?

Thanks guys

That will work:)

The PSU you have will also be fine, only adding another GTX560ti for SLI will be an issue.

01. Would a 6970 2gb be better than the 560ti??
02. Would I be better getting the Cosair Vengance 8gb on this weeks special and save another £9?
03. Swap the Corsair Graphite for the Corsair Corbide and save another £30? I liked the look of both cases so it was one or the other..
04. And again would the psu still be enough with the different components and all the case fans?

Thanks again guys....

Altho 5950 is better in games it dont have cuda if you want it.

Dunno... As I said in a previous post I want to play the odd game (BF3 / MW3) and maybe a few others and do a bit of video editing..

Decisions decisions..... Its hard to think straight when theres loads of different options running thru ya mind....

I recently bought a very similar spec including motherboard, ram, processor and Gfx card but in the end i switch from the board you have listed there to the Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P board as it supports sli and it isn't much more. I played the BF3 beta with this setup (also have the 2500k overclocked to 4.6ghz) and it ran it perfectly.

A few people have now told me to get a GTX570..

Im at a bit of a dilemma now as I wanted to order my system some time in the coming week.

Anyone else have any information that they could maybe put my way on what they think??

Suggested cards now are ATI 6950 2gb, ATI 6979 2gb, GTX560ti 2gb or a GTX570 1.28gb.

This will be used at 1920x1200 for gaming and also for video editing .....

Cheers for any more info guys....

P.S I want to try and make the purchase a little more future proof so that I wont have to upgrade for a few years to come...

Theres a 1920X1200 chart there, your PSU is still ok for a GTX570.

I know that the 570 would be ok for video editing due to having Cuda and some certain game, but for other games BF3 for example uses 1.5gb of vram so I presume that being the case some of the newer games would probably need more vram??
So would I be better off getting a 6950 2gb, 6970 2gb or a 560ti 2gb??

Its awkward when you have doubts in your mind on whats good and whats not.

Thanks guys

Cuda doesnt automatically speed up video editing, first of all the software you are using must support it. It speeds up and improves the quality of some effects applied in premiere(CS5+) for example, dont think after effects uses it at all. I dont know about other editing software, I think maybe Maya but I dont know to what extent (never tried, little out of my price range).

I don't know much about gfx cards otherwise, just saying you might not want to put too much weight on your card having CUDA.

Right so I might be able to get away with a 560ti instead of a 570 ??

Would save me about £50 also and as long as i can play MW3 and BF3 and encode videos thats all im worried about and maybe in the near future I could get another and sli them..

Would that be any better??

I see most people recommending the gigabyte board in these 'spec me' threads etc. Are they considered the best boards to get? I was looking at the extreme 4 gen 3 z68 by Asrock but if the Gigabyte boards are better then i may aswell save the cash? Whats the real world diff between all these boards?

The Gigabyte above is the cheapest Z68 board that does SLI+Crossfire at an equal 8X/8X, so both cards get the same bandwidth, cheaper boards only usually do Crossfire and then at 16X/4X.

More expensive boards have better quality parts, more VRM's and just more features (SATA ports/USB ports etc)

Get which ever board you want, but if it means having to compromise on something important such as GFX then get the cheaper board.
