Hi everyone .. I have just built my new system and noticed while playing Rage for a while on max settings the side of my gpu (the long black part next to the power connectors) was really hot! is this normal? I have the x-fi in the pci-ex slot right above it ... the game was running fine and I haven't overclocked it or anything.. I just a little concerned about the heat. Im using the HAF-x case

Maybe Im just paranoid but better to ask I think :)

Sounds normal, the manufacturers put a sticker on these warning users the heatsinks can get hot.

But double check temps :)

Heatsinks tend to be hot ;)
What's the actual GPU temperature?

I downloaded MSI Afterburner, started it up, left it running and started Rage

temps were 28-30c idle and 50-57c after playing rage for 2 hours

Sounds good to me and even room for overclocking in the future :)

The twin frozer II dual fan on the card seems to do its job nicely, says on the box '19c cooler' than the reference gtx580

Id like to sat that afterburner works with the Logitech G510 display so I could keep an eye on temps at all times :)

Thanks guys for your replies

My housemate has this card and I have it's little bro the GTX570 TF PE III which runs at similar temperatures whilst playing rage. Have you changed the texture size from 4k to 8k? Makes it look even better!

not sure where to change that setting, i have it at 1440x900 with vsync on everything on highest but I don't see a texture size option?
