Ivy Bridge i7 3700K

Yep already reading speculation about the possibility of 5GHz overclocks on air for 24/7 use. Would take some beating...
Could realistically be looking at 5 - 5.5GHz if the stock clock increases that are being talked about are anything to go by.

Thanks for the link, 77W TDP sounds awesome.

@han_solo its going to be 4 hyperthreaded cores so 8 threads. Socket 2011 is either 4 or 6 hyperthreaded cores (8 or 12 threads). Itll be a year or two until intel starts selling consumer grade 8 core (presumably 16 thread) processors.

No mention of K series only for overclocking! Does mention S and T for low power though so maybe Intel saw the error of their ways?

I somehow doubt Intel would give all their chips unlocked multis, just doesn't seem to make good business sense compared to what they're doing now.

Blimey 5.5GHz would be a beast, pair that with a 7xxx or 6xx GPU and things are looking good for PC gaming. Just need more titles that can push the hardware.

Just bought my sandy bridge with an Asrock extreme 4 gen 3 board with the intention of changing CPU once ivy bridge is out :D.. Nice new pci 3 gfx to look forward to also

Wow 5.5ghz possible? Games need to start catching up as they are lagging badly!! They can barely stress a 4ghz quad core atm.
