Dyson DC23 Motorhead opinions

Hi all

I currently have a Dyson DC08 cylinder vacuum cleaner with a turbo brush attachment. It's a good machine, but with having a white cat, it doesn't quite clean deep enough to get out all of the cat hair that gets entwined in the carpets. I'm therefore looking at the Dyson DC23 Motorhead to get a bit more oomph with the side benefit that I can sell my existing Dyson to my sister and get £60 off direct from Dyson by trading in my aunty's broken but recently replaced vacuum cleaner.

What I would like are some thoughts on how big a difference I will (or will not) see between going from a cleaner with a brush bar driven by suction to a brush bar driven by a motor. Does anyone have a DC23 Motorhead to be able to offer any other opinions on it? I understand that it is very heavy and noisy, but I'm not particularly bothered about that.

Many thanks for any thoughts.

M.

I've got a DC24 and I've used the other versions in the past,
it's OK on cat hair but by it's nature it's not going to pull out much embedded hair.
The push on Turbohead attachment was never all that good anyway so you should see an improvement.

Best method is a carpet washer, second best a rubber bristle brush, or just wet your hand and gather any patches up into a fluff ball. Regular combing helps too.

I would be more inclined to ditch the Dyson idea. Dyson's are generally poorly made and don't last that long.
Sure, it must be my imagination that my old DC01 and all the other Dysons still work fine :p

Personally I think people buy Dysons for some feature they like, like the Ball or one of the light, easy to store versions.

Do not go for the "DC19T2 Animal" - it picks up some hair but not all of it, you have to go over the same spot loads of times.. fills up way too quickly and I only have one dog. Really wish I hadn't got this one.

I'm looking for another 'pet owner' vacuum cleaner tbh.. suction based brushes arent very good for pet owner cleaners, especially the head on this one... gets blocked up very easily causing the brush to spin super fast and I actually have friction burns on the inside of the plastic because of it.

Same problem with my DC08 as far as blocking the turbo brush head and it spinning so fast it sounds like it would take off.
