The police have had all the training in the world to arrest someone without using excessive force, there is no need for a police man to punch someone.
Even if they were attacked, they could just arrest the person using their normal technique.

Maybe use hes training, surely a police officer should know better. This could have made a protest into a riot. Hopefully he will be done for assualt.

If you look about on the internet there is an article about this event.

There are three videos from different angles that pretty much capture the whole thing from start to finish.

Simple as the white shirt walking up behind the civilian, saying something like, "move to the sidewalk please". Civilian just gives him a look and walks away. Cue white shirt grabbing him, pulling him about, and landing one right in the face.

Democracy at its best.

I'm pretty sure they are allowed to defend themselves...

The bloke in the vid did go a bit OTT but at the end of the day the protestor won't be hitting him or causing harm to anyone else.
Also I would rather take a punch to the chops than get a belt with a batton any day of the week.

I.e they get hit, they can pepper spray back etc?

Of course they can defend themselves, but a punch to the face is incredibly excessive. There was not a problem arresting that man after the punch, he could have quite easily arrested him instead of punching him right in the face.

There is a large problem with that, where does the line get drawn? Getting knocked out is way past the line of self defence, if there is no line then what stops them from seriously injuring someone just because they made a stupid decision when heavily drunk?

If the other vids show the person in green to be non-agressive the I totaly agree with you, however if the person in green threw a punch/slap then they deserve everything they got as had the police man not reacted they could have quite easily slipped into the crowd without being arrested.

I'm sure that can't be true as the OCUK detectives here have already determined off that obscured YouTube video that the hippy initiated the occurrence by launching an unprovoked attack on the policeman and got everything he deserved... :rolleyes:
