Ahh the joys of being 19 years old :(

Just a quick question: do i get my deposit back or does it dissapear forever?

Thanks!

This is probably a good thing mate, do you really want 1.5k (min) debt at the age of 19?

Just save up and get a £500 pc that is about 70% as good as the one you wanted.

I had the same last week, I'm 19 too :( They return the deposit though.

I was going to start a thread on how to improve credit rating actually :p

Post your order number in the Customer Services section (my signature) and I shall sort it first thing in the morning for you when I get to the HQ. :)

Haven't even looked but what are the finance rates? Can you get a relative to spring you the use of a decent credit card or ideally a cash loan?

I to am 19.

Want to improve the old credit rating?

Get a credit card and rack up some purchases on that which you pay off the next day in FULL. (Even if it's that game you want, £40 better looking than £0)

Give someone money every month without failure. Eg. Rent :D

I applied for a credit card with my own bank who I have been with for about 10 years and it got declined :(

I pay my car insurance monthly without fail, never been overdrawn or had any debts of any kind either. It's annoying :(

Do things like standing orders count? i have a few of them set-up (board and lodging, car insurance comes out my dads account because hes to policy holder)

If not i may have to take up a credit card, i hate the idea of having one though.

Most likely you have no credit record which is why a credit check would come back unfavourably. You can build up a credit score by getting things like a credit card or mobile phone contract. Also make sure you are on the electoral register as this will influence your ability to get credit. MoneySavingExpert is probably the best place to look for advice on this type of matter.

Going into a bank and speaking with a senior advisor. Worst mistake. Left with a 1K card :P

In the good old days, when I was 19 I had nearly £8k of available credit without really trying. I only blew my balls off once, racking up 4-5k in a matter of weeks. Good learning curve :p Thankfully the banks are a little more sensible with lending now

Paying your rent will not improve your credit rating, ever!

Take it from someone who has been renting for 13 years (agency & private) & checks his credit report very often, my rent has never appeared on any credit report. The only way it ever may appear is if you're very late with it dependent on the agency you're with.

Just get a CC or two, make small purchases and clear them at the end of each month, will sky rocket your credit rating in no time.
