hey guys.

just doing this for a mate, a few months after ya'll helped me with my first ever (successful) build.

he's looking to play modern games at decent settings and watch movies, nothing more. the budget includes a monitor and keyboard/mouse but they don't have to be ****-hot or anything.

he's also wants to build it himself so pre-made systems aren't an option. i've had a look myself but not sure what to go for as, sadly, my previously acquired knowledge relates only to my own build and Sandy Bridge. it's amazing how much stuff i don't know, and on top of that, how much i've gone and forgotten!

anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated!

aah, thanks a lot guys! really appreciate you going out of your way to do this.

yeah, damn, i hadn't thought about the OS. he'll be needing that - why is that **** always so expensive?

thanks to an act of quite awesome kindness, an OS no longer has to figure into the build budget. so 500-600, including mouse, keyboard and monitor for a gaming PC, anyone else fancy the challenge of spec-ing this noob a build?

cheers!
